I have been going over the bike this weekend and noticed that the gear shifter has a reasonable amount of play side to side. if I sit on the bike and move it with my foot, its got between 5-10mm of play, wondered if anyone else had this problem and what they did about it, or if anyone else has a suggestion.

It shouldnt really have much side to side play. Mine was like this when i bought it. You should tighten it up a bit.

i didnt actually do it myself. A freind did it for me but it was easy. Was just one bolt holding the gear shifter to the little bit that its attached to. I'll have to have a look when i get home.

You need to tighten up No. 11 Thumbs Up (once you have it at your comfort angle.)

take off piece 1 , open it for 8-10mm , with a flat file grind a bit on the 2 flat parts (1mm on each side) then refit and it will tighten much stronger
