Picture the scene, just finished work. In full leathers and bike is sitting outside, shiny and looking the sex since you clean and polished her 2 days ago. Go round the one way system and see lots of traffic, soon relised the bridge is down.

So you filter to the front and turn the engine off. Helmet off and watch the boats go past. Bridge starts swinging close and you get ready to cain it on the empty road (30 limit but not residenal and not junctions were you can get pulled out).

Heres a google earth pic and roughly what happened.
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/Mapofnewhavenbridge.jpg

Reach about 72 with the bike sounding so nice and hear someone, an ambulance maybe? no, a traffic copper. Move over in the vain hope its for an actual emergency but no, it for me. Crying or Very sad He must have been a few cars back and guess i was going to drag it and was waiting as i didn't see him at all.

Get the "can i have your license to send to the DVLA as you wont be needing it" routine and stuck with Stinkwheels approach (thanks stink!!) of "i wasnt looking at my speedo" when he kept saying "you were least twice over the limit". He kept saying it and each time just say i wasnt sure what speed my progress was. Laughing

I was 90% sure it was going to be just a bollocking but still shat myself. Got a lecture about how I'm more likely to die than other people.

But then, the bit that really got me was he started saying "well with a bike that looks like that i guess you dont want people to see you" Shocked. So i ask if he just doesn't like quality British made bikes and he start on the colour. I then asked what he rode and he said "nothing". What a pussy Laughing

THEN, he says "well if your going to pull away fast you could at least do it fast". So i go with the "but officer its 33bhp, how can i?" Angelic

He went the same way as me and got this really cool photo Thumbs Up

I think I'm going to wait out the restriction period now Embarassed

Yea, but he didnt have any proof and i wasnt going to admit up to it! (though it was very obvious is wasnt 30mph).

I reckon had i had a real good look around before putting helmet back on i would have seen him Embarassed Crying or Very sad . Oh well, we all learn!!

Keeping the bike restricted is paying off then. Laughing

They don't need proof, courts will accept a cops word as to what you were doing.

Good banter. Thumbs Up You were 'playing the game' there. He'd obviously twigged you weren't going to let on what speed you were doing and you answered his comment exactly right, just the right amount of cheek.

A wee bit of cheek can go a long way. Like when a copper came up to us when we were sitting totally pished round a campfire. "Been drinking then lads? Where's the keys to your bikes then?".

"Dropped them in the river mate. When you off duty anyhow?"

"I'm on all night lads, I'll drop past every so often just to check you're alright."

"Well make sure you take a break every hour, tiredness kills you know?"

Yea, at the start his tone was very harsh and was swearing quite a lot. He also kept wording questions in a way that i would admit the speed. Even after i said i didnt see my speedo he said "how can you miss it?! its in front of you!!".

But by the end he was almost having a laugh with me, was very strange but did make me relise it was a bit of a stupid thing to have done so did deserve it TBH

Yeah, either that or:

"So i was waiting for the swing bridge to close and.....some blind old cunt in a nissan micra didn't see the warnings and jumped his car halfway across the gap before he smashed into the other side, burst into flames and then fell into the water beneath."

Anyways, you are clearly one lucky sod.

Thumbs Up

Well, he rode off and after he made a comment about how police bikes only go flat out he was going quite slow (a few overtakes here and there). I thought it be great time for a pic?! Yea not sure why either....

Also, i was in full leathers but after being stopped i didnt have my gloves on and my phone was in jacket pocket. Think its a cool photo though!
