I noticed that the neutral light on the CB4 is on no matter which gear its in, as long as the clutch is disengaged. Gets a bit confusing when im changing gear from first to second. A few times i've went into neutral then changed up to 3 thinking im still in neutral Rolling Eyes stupid i know but i was just woundering if it should be like this as the NSR only shows a neutral light when its actually in neutral.

From the description there seems to be a wiring fault as the neutral light should ONLY be on in neutral, clutch in or not (otherwise it wouldn't be a neutral light but a clutch in light).

Check the wiring from the switches and light, possibly a bad earth is causing the power to back-feed through the clutch lever switch causing the light to power on when the lever is pulled.

Abi.

I'm guessing there's either an earthing problem or the switch is knackered. Try disconnecting it and shorting the contacts to see if it goes on and off.

Not sure where the neutral indicator is on your bike but try and find it then trace the wires checking that no insulation has rubbed through shorting it out. This is what was wrong on my bike (bandit 400) and it cost me £60 to get it sorted as it involved them taking the tank off and everything to trace the wire.
