Whats the general opinion of EBC replacement clutches?

I have found a web company selling them for my K4 Bandit 600 for £58 inc the springs and delivery which i think is quite reasonable.

Sorry its that time of year and i'm just getting round to a bit of preventive maintenance.

I have one in the engine on my KLE500, it's been in there for a good 30k miles of hard riding and doesn't appear to be causing any problems thus far.

Remember to soak the plates in oil overnight before you fit them.

XlonewolfX, yes i did see and reply many thanks, I have ordered the chain and will do it in the coming week, will then look at the clutch, i think if i do replace it i will get one of these ebc kits like i said dont think thats bad money really.
Someone was saying its quite involved rebuilding/replacing the clutch plates or do they mean just time consuming and fiddly?

all i did was take the clutch cover off undo 5 bolts and remove the springs then took the plate off, then all the friction and pressure plates, rub the pressure plates with a bit of emry cloth, just to take the shine off, noo need for deep grooves. easy.

The fiddliest bit is getting the old paper gasket off the cover. Otherwise, as said, undo five or six bolts, slide the old plates out, slide the new ones in and reassemble. The actual clutch dismantling/reassembling bit takes 10-15 minutes.

I never bothered rubbing the plates down, I do soak them in oil overnight as per the instructions on the box.

You will need a new clutch cover gasket.

You can even do it without dropping the oil on most bikes if you lean them way over to the right hand side.

I must know a bunch of drama queens that sounds like a walk in the park...if and when i do this i will get a gasket and a tube of blue stuff just to be safe... lol

How do you lean the bike over that far...that seams like hard work.. Think i'd rather drain oil than give myself a hernia.

I usually lean it against a wall on the bar end. There again, I'm not that fussy about my paintwork.

On aye, a tip for you. As you unscrew the clutch bolts, it'll try to rotate on you. You can buy a special tool for holding the clutch basket still. They are expensive to buy for just one job but if you put the bike in gear and tie the back brake down, that should keep it still.

i drained the oil, easier plus bike needs new oil to soak in. if you get a good grip on the nut with your ratchet it shouldnt spin the basket, also if u still find it hard, put it into first, if it still turns and your having issuses get a mate to lock the back wheel using the rear brake. if the chain cant move then that gives you a better chance. Thumbs Up Very Happy
