Hardly worth it unless you need to keep up with all the other derestricted peds.
You'll also have to start keeping your eyes peeled for the five-oh (yeah I can be down with the hip Kids ) all the time in case you get pulled doing a speed you shouldnt be able to achieve.
That and it's only going to be five minutes before you are looking to getting a 125 on the road. ____________________ Kal...

It's only a 50 so its not going to blow you away when you de restrict it, but it will be a lot nippyer and just generally more fun to ride. ____________________ Banned till April 2011. |

If I do, I plan on declaring it to the insurance. I hold a full car license and I've already owned 125's before (got this scooter free - I'm doing it up as a little project, mostly as an economical runaround but I could do with it being a bit quicker!)
There's nothing illegal about a derestricted scooter as long as you are over 16 and have it declared on the insurance, is there? |

Ah well - I won't be able to sell it on for much anyway, as the fairings are fucked due to the fire it was in. Considering taking them off completely and having it as a 'rat'...not sure if the rat thing works on a scooter but hey
I was just worried about the legality as I know that a moped is only regarded as a moped if it has a maximum speed of 45km/h, so technically it won't be the same type of bike once derestricted... |

I have a full car license and still need to do my CBT every 2 years... (Obviously hoping to pass some sort of test before two years though... If I ever get the finger out...) ____________________ Didn't catch anything. |

Yes it's worth it in my opinion, although we're bound to have law obiding nazi's in this forum.
Does it good, less strangulation, what 50cc is it?
Either way on the whole, be it ped or racer style (rs50) expect anywhere between 45mph and 55mph-60mph.
I'd do it, no one I've ever heard or known of has been caught and/or fined, had the bike convascated, it's not the speed you ride at, it's how you ride it! |

you have been lucky, back in the day when i was at school some kid got clocked at 42 in a 30 on his fiddy and was promptly ripped to bits.
you run the risk at 16.
however, mr bassjunkie yes you might aswell as the rule wont apply to you. a little extra poke would be nice round town. ____________________ Current : '08 Yamaha FZ1s

to clarify: derestricted 'peds are classed as MOTORCYCLES, not MOPED, theres a big (legal) difference. if i really wanted to nit pick i would say such things as the ped now requires a rear number plate light, and that you need a dipped / full beam light (which some scooters, amazingly, dont have) ect.
regarding the unlimited cbt, again, it only lasts for the life of the licence FOR A MOPED, YOU STILL NEED TO DO A CBT TO RIDE A MOTORCYCLE (i.e. more than 3bhp, or more than 30mph, or more thn 50cc
hope it helps ____________________ killa wrote: Im an ass man myself |

Thats true it can happen but I've never knwon it to happen personally.
It's what I said it's how you ride ie, do 60mph in a 60 zone the cops wouldn't give a monkey's how you ride it in built up areas mainly is where people get done for anti social riding etc. |

What do you define as a 'proper bloody bike'?
If it has two wheels and moves under its own power, it's a motorbike.
I don't need, or want, more than a 50cc at the moment as I have my van for driving long distances. The scooter is for commuting to work, doing the shopping, and for pissing about on at weekends.
I have owned 'proper' bikes - had a CG125 for a while.
Why can't you get your head round the fact that some people may ride a 50cc scooter because they want to? It's cheap on the insurance, cheap on petrol, comfortable and easy to ride. |
so is a CG and it's a billion times more reliable than any ped. ____________________ Past - CG125 ,KR1S, SV650s, Street Triple R - Current - Duke 390
