moving house to a much nicer area but losing the Garage which was the biggest benefit of the house. Having to find a small but secure bike shed/lockup thing that'll fit in the garden and won't overstretch the budget. I'll be replacing the rear fence to give proper gated access to the rear, but until then the bike'll have to live in a mate's garage (10 min walk away every morning and evening) or I'll have to park it out front.

I need a recommendation or two. Seen one or two things that seem to fit the bill, but lothed to fork out the £750 or so I've been quoted. I could always build a lean to/pergola and slap some plastic roofing over it but would like something where I can hide the bike away and put tools and stuff.

Any thoughts?

Ta,

K.

I just had the very same issue. Ended up going to a local wood merchant who custom built me one.

It is 9' x 5'5" and 6' high. It is built out of 3/4" board with a 2" base. It's like a nuclear bunker. Cost me £400 including him custom building it, treating it and erecting it for me on a Saturday morning (took 3 people!).

It seems very secure and not likely to ever be moved.

Getting a big bin full of concrete and loads of almax gear though soon, but would like a cover really.

When I was in a similar position I was looking at sheds from B&Q as mentioned above, and also metal garages (and sheds) from Argos, like this:

and

A 6'x4' or 7'x5' shed would only cost about £125 tops. It will need a ground anchor installed but if the shed needs a concrete floor, the ground anchor could easily be installed as the concrete is setting. Easy to make a cheap shed alarm too.

I had this one 4 months ago when it was £400. Done it all myself and took 2.5 days to do. Fantastic shed too

I'm limited on space and the orientation of the garden. I'll need to fit a new fence, double gate and then add the shed onto some hard standing. trying to keep it down to 1.5x3m or less.

I've 2 areas I can put it, one at the bottom of the garden (giving a shallower entrance angle) or the other which would sit on a gravel area but would be at 90 deg. to the path. I'll be coming in and out from the right hand side. Option 1 would be easier to get the bike in, but option 2 would mean it'll be easier to turn it around (though would have to scrifice 2 to 4 trees to do it.

Hmm.

Well, currently it's in a locked garage with Anchor so will need to put it in a secure shed type thing with alarm+anchor and locked garden gates....

No such thing as a secure shed. If 'they' want your bike they'll take it regardless what you do to secure it. All you can do is make life hard for them and ensure that if someone does try to nick it, you know about it.

You can make an effective shed alarm from an alarm horn, a charged battery, a switch, some wire and a piece of stiff copper wire.

Good luck
