Yup,muppet building a pc time again !
Bought myself a new mother board, ram, cpu to in my old case.... When i realised that my old power supply was cack as i needed a 300 watt minium.....
So got myself a new sexy case with a 450 watt power supply.
Then after much cursing at not getting the bios/boot up on screen, i realised the muppets in pc world sold me the wrong ram ! Arggh.
Anyways i changed the ram....... and still nowt,i've changed monitors and other bits and still i cant get it too work !
It has power, the fans all work the hard disk spins and the lights on the keyboard all come on.....but nothing on the screen !
This is the spec so far........
ECS elite group 945g-m3 mother board
1gb of ddr2 pc2-4300 533mhz dimm Ram
Pentium D 3.2 processer
450 watt power supply
60gb hard disk (which will be changed.....maybe)
The user manual say's the ram and the processer is right and so is the power supply.....
What else can i try ?????????????????
This is my first computer i've built in over 6 years and theres so much new stuff its doing my head in !!!

Tap the numlock key repeatedly once the machine is on, if the light flashes on and off, the machine has/is posting (Getting past the bios) which is a good sign, if its not, then you've got more serious issues
As mentioned before, do you have a dedicated graphics card as well as integrated? If so, make sure the monitor lead is connected to the dedicated card.
Is it an AGP card? Make sure its firmly seated fully into the socket.
Does the card have its own power connector? Make sure that is connected as well.
Disconnect power from all drivers and ensure the mainboard is being powered properly, you should have your standard long powerblock as well as an extra 4 pin connector for the PSU. Both need to be connected.
Make sure the mainboard isn't being shorted out from underneath by excessive risers, only use a riser where there is a coated reinforced hole.
Good luck ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |

Thanks all,but still no luck !
I've taken the motherboard out and made sure that the risers are in the right place, and i've only got the cpu and fan, memory, keyboard and monitor connected to try and narrow it down.... the only jumpers/pins i've got in are the re-set and the power....
I've reseated the cpu and memory in different banks, reset the cmos jumper and the bios one....
The monitor is connected straight into the vga port on the back of the mother board not into a graphics card.... this thing takes a pci express doo-daa hicky thing, not like my old agp cards.......
When powering up the pc with the monitor on, the monitor does "sound like its doing something", like the sound when your monitor goes into stand-by....
The keyboard lights up,but it does sweet fa, except i can turn the pretty lights on and off on the keyboard......
Should the vga port on the back WORK on its own do you think or should the be a grahics card pluged in.. ? cause i thought if there is a vga port a graphics card isnt needed ????
Also on the motherboard there is a ATX12V connector, and the power supply has one too , are they supposed to be connected ??
..... Just tried now (what the hell if i break it now ,lol ) and all it does is make the cpu fan spin alot faster and make the reset button work !
Do you reckon that this is muppet/cpu or motherboard problems ?
This is the motherboard i've got https://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?CategoryID=1&TypeID=32&DetailID=719&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=1&LanID=8 if that helps ?? ____________________ Ducati 916,white framed corse replica https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=239309

does it beep?
if you dont have a motherboard speaker, put one in.
chances are its going to give you an error code.
try it with 1 stick of ram, you could have got a bad batch...
however... you said pc world sold you the wrong ram?
are you sure it wasnt the right ram, but a duff slot?
try the ram in another pc if you can.
edit: dammit, posted too late.
in that case... un plug your hard drive and all your cd rom drives and floppy drives so all you have connected is the motherboard.
i bet youve been a tard and connected them wrong ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. lol ! The drives arent connected at the mo' and theres buzzer on the board, but no beeps...
The ram they sold me was ddr2 pc2-6400 512 mb 240 pin 800mhz dimm,.... but after digging around the ram i should have had was either a 667/533/400 mhz so i went out and bought a pc2-4300 1gb 240 pin 533mhz dimm......
So i think i've covered the ram side, but im worring that either the cpu or motherboard is fubar'd....... And being the "tard" i am, last week i binned the reciept !!!! DOH !!!! ____________________ Ducati 916,white framed corse replica https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=239309
