DT125, did a top end rebuild and it ran fine with no strange noises, had to take the top end off a few times due to an overheating problem, i also took the right hand engine casing off for a new gasket, now the engine runs fine (run in and powerfull) but at certain revs there is a metallic rattling noise, it happens somewhere around idle speed (sometimes it rattles sometimes it doesn't) at 3-4k revs and just as the powervalve opens at 5.5k revs. It can also be heard when acceleration stops and revs drop.

Also i cant find where the noise is comming from, it sounds like it could be the small end bearning but i just replaced that.

The thing is before i stripped the engine down a few more times it was fine, no rattling atall, i did 40 miles on it and there were no strange noises (till the cooling system failed and i was left stranded)

If someone can tell me how i could host a sound file of it i could post it here.

Thanks

My TLR200 has a rattle.
Know what it is ? The kill switch, no way to stop it but its doing no harm..

Check for lose things first.

Its definately comming from the engine, sounds as if something is loose and rattling around..dont think i left a spanner in there.
Think ill take it apart today, is it okay to take the right side engine casing off (holds the tranny oil and has the gears inside) and then run the bike for a few seconds to see if anything there is causing problems? would it damage the bike?
