It's a 10 yr old bike and may not be worth doing anything with, but I fancy having a go.

It sometimes does almost 40, on a good day, following wind, down hill and all that. Is it going to make much difference derestricting it?

If it's just a case of taking a washer out of the carb so it can suck, and a baffle out of the exaust so it can blow I'm up for it. I don't want to break owt by cocking up the oil mixture tho.

Thoughts please??????

if it does 40, its probably de-restricted... or are you telling porkies/speedo over reading.

if its a 10 year old 2t that hasnt had a piston change then its probably a bit fucked.

its simple to de-restrict really, its just a case of finding out what restrictions you have in the first place, if any.

if its a 4t, they cant really be restricted.

does it go 'screeeeee'
or 'brmmmmm'?

I did say it does almost 40, the speedo is in KPH and converted it says 38 MPH, about, ish.

It's deffo a 2 stroke, and it seems to do OK mixing it right too. It's only done 7000 KM, to work and back sort of thing.

The engine is all original except the new piston it had after 500 KM when the oil mixture wasn't right, that was done under warranty tho.

Brmmmm sounds a bit butch for the bike, but it's closer than screeeee, what does that tell you?

Thanks so far.

vvvv if that's the case it's not restricted, it's faster than that, or the speedo is waaaayyy off vvvv

the sound just confirms its a 2stroke.

normally you have carb restrictors, which can be restricted jets, a washer preventing the needle jet opening far enough, or an airbox filter stopping the required amout of air getting through the carbs.

an exhaust restrictor can also be an end can restriction like on the NSR or usually on peds its an extra pipe that needs to be cut off and welded over/crimped.

another type is variator restriction, this is in your belt drive assuming you dont have gears, its similar to the carb restriction but its a washer restricting how far up the gear the belt can travel.
