It's quite hard to explain, but it isn't smooth or progressive. If I, for example, hold the front brake in at a particular position it feels like it's applying and releasing to a certain extent - the bike will basically jerk to a stop.

Really odd, and annoying...no idea what's causing it though. Any advice would be appreciated.

Oh shite. That sounds expensive. Sad

It passed its MOT a few weeks ago, nothing was mentioned about that - advisory for bent handlebars and bent clutch lever.
It was dropped in a low speed slide by the previous owner, which caused the above problems.

Are there any other problems caused by a warped disc? Is it going to cost £££'s to fix?

Depends on the bike

Plenty of pattern discs around for less than OEM

Or you could risk the second hand route (beware)

Since I'm mechanically inept, the phrase "getting arseraped by a garage" springs to mind... Smile

doesn't take 10 mins to change a disc, easily done by yourself. Thumbs Up

aye. Just don't bodge it. Tighten the bolts evenly around the disc to the correct torque and use a drop of non-permanent locking fluid on the threads to make sure it all stays put.

Thumbs Up

when replacing the discs if you have 2 on the front it's best to replace them both at the same time, and replace your pads as well

Sounds a bit more complicated....

Ah shit, I just remembered. A few weeks ago I tried to ride off and forgot I still had a disc lock attached - I wasn't really pulling away gently and the bike came crashing down. No doubt that's what fucked up the disc. Evil or Very Mad

i was just reading the the thread here and thought i ought to say somthing.

dics run very hot so be careful if use use a loctite type product
it doesnt work at raised temperatures that you will find on a disc

from memory loctite is useless above 100 deg c
discs often have a blue tinge to them indicating the temperature
around 250 deg c
