Hi guys,
Bike is currently untaxed (sorn) and I need to get it MOT'd. I only need 1 days cover but am having a really headache finding a reputable company who can quote me. Shop has quoted me £20 to collect and deliver bike. Does anyone think I will get 1 days cover for cheaper than this and if so who with.

Many thanks
Phill

£20 to collect and deliver is a great price!

If my local bike shops charged that id take it every time!

You will not be able to get 1 day cover, the only company that used to do it no longer does as the underwriters refuse to cover it now. The shortest is 1 month and then cancel after 1 day, but they will charge more than the £20.

I would take the price from the shop.

I'd take the shops offer 20 quids a bargain, the only place i know locally that does such a service is when you book it in for a major service, thats a bargain for an MOT

Does anyone know if you can take out a weeks insurance on a bike that is already insured by the owner or is the only way to do it getting insured as a named driver on their policy?

Sorry it's a bit different to the OP's question but I thought it pointless creating a new thread for it. Cheers in advance.

Not sure on the legalities of it, but most insurances i've taken out ask if you're the owner of the vehicle, so unless it subsequently refuses the policy i would of thought its allowed as long as you declare it maybe Question

Little different to riding on a mates bike if you're insured to ride other bikes really Confused

Cheers Matt, the insurance will be for riding a mates bike whilst he is on holiday as my insurance doesn't cover me to ride others bikes. Will ask to see how much it is to whack me on the policy.

The only thing i could imagine being a problem is for example if your mates insured TPFT/FC under the condition its kept in x-place in lets say a garage for arguements sake, then he goes off on holiday, you get the bike [all legal and insured - if this is possible of course], but then decide to park it elsewhere, on a public road - it then gets nicked.

His insurance wouldn't be having any of it i'd imagine so if you're only third party to keep it cheap for example - no ones going to be getting any money back for the bike Confused

Yeah that sounds about right mate actually.

Getting put on his insurance for the week, will only be parked the usual places it already gets left anyway and if it gets nicked he gets the same as if it was nicked when he was using it so all good, ta.
