| Quote: | I am planning to get a Tomtom V2 for christmas from my darling wife.
Can anyone offer any advice/hints |
You may want to check out the garmin zumo instead.
Friend had the tomtom v1 and v2, and he kept the v2 for a few weeks before he changed to the zumo. He says that the zumo is the far better gps for the bike. easier to plan trips, easier to use..etc ____________________ BMW R1200GS & Honda Fireblade 929RR

It can come down to personal preference. Unless your trying to get the most out of a gps ie. planning journeys, touring, the garmin I hear is far superior. This is what I hear from ppl who have tried both units, for longer periods of time..not just the one journey. The 550 has text to speech, and speaks the names of roads. Also the mount is extremely good. You don't get the headset..granted, but also for a little extra cash you can purchase the lifetime traffic warnings. You also get a car mount with the garmin, with speakers.
The TomTom Rider V2 is a good improvement over the V1. The V1 has been plagued with problems from the outset. Do a search on google, and there are common faults, which can eventually render it next to useless! Tomtom never really seemed to acknowledge the problem. ____________________ BMW R1200GS & Honda Fireblade 929RR

As you say, personal preferences. I've had both Garmins and Tomtoms and really I don't think one is much better than the other.
barnhatter, buy her some lingerie and keep the sat nav for yourself. You get the best of both worlds then ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |
