Hi
It should be around 12~13 volts, rising to 14~15 tops with the engine running at reasonable revs.
At 0.9V there is something wrong (with me that would be time to check I had selected the right range on the multimeter )
All the best

Hi
It does sound like the battery is faulty. There is no way that the voltage should be that low.
Take the battery back to the shop and get them to double check it. Maybe they have done something silly like connected the charger up the wrong way round when they charged it for you. Maybe the trainee filled it with distilled water rather than acid
All the best

Dont do that. The battery acts as a buffer for the current and protects the regulator / rectifier. Running with the battery disconnected is likely to fry the regulator / rectifier (although I believe you can get away with using a resistor instead of a battery).
To check the voltage with the bike running connect the battery normally, start the engine and then connect the voltmeter between the terminals
All the best
