My driving instructor is officially the worlds most useless knobjockey.
Do you fail your car test if you let someone flash you out at a junction or whatever.
he says you don't but I've also been told by my friends you do... and my instructor has also told me it's o.k. to let the wheel slide through your hands so I'm not too quick to trust him tbh.
PLLLLEASE halp meh...
my tests on Tuesday |

Someone flashing their lights at you is officially to make you aware of their prescence, and do not let the wheel slip through your hands, you are not in complete control.
Get another instructor ____________________ Fallen Angel "Nae sniffing my seat now!!!!! "

O.K so, I shouldn't let my steering wheel slide really, and I shouldn't let people flash me out.
Basically, I should just ignore my instructor then?
I can do that. Thanks a lot you guys I've been bricking this test for weeks. |

Not want to knock your confidence, but BSM instructors are predominantly trainees, not full instructors. On the front windscreen of the vehicle he should display his DSA badge, which will tell you what grade of instructor he is. Most experienced fully qualified guys are independant or work for independant schools.
Just concentrate and I am sure you will be fine, you obviously have a head on your shoulders if you recognised that some of his advice was wrong ____________________ Fallen Angel "Nae sniffing my seat now!!!!! "

The rule is "Make progress when you can.".
Three potential scenarios from being flashed out:
1) You are flashed out and go when it isn't safe causing the oncoming vehicle to brake or alter course. Results in serious fault. Fail.
2) You are flashed out, the car flashing you has clearly slowed and there is a big enough gap to go without causing the other car to further alter its course. You go. Correct thing to do, you are making progress when you can. Best to accelerate a bit harder than usual as you pull out to show you are aware that other cars are approaching the junction.
3) You are flashed out, the car flashing you has clearly slowed and there is a big enough gap to go without causing the other car to further alter its course. You stay where you are. Results in minor fault for hesitation, another two of those and you fail. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
