Yeah.. mine do the same. Embarrassing when you're in traffic at the beginning of the journey and you're squeaking away loads.

Goes away after a few mins though in my case.

It's not the best of ideas to spray a lubricant into a friction-dependant mechanism to be honest.
Try undoing the brake adjuster 180 degrees and see if that helps.

Edit: You couldn't try being a little more helpful Jamie?

Wait.. whats happening here? Is it a constant squeaking even when they are not applied, or is it just when you apply them?

I usually have to pump my brakes a bit on my quiet street till the squeaking stops.

When it's wet, if a bit of water is getting in then you are probably getting a film of rust on the brake lining which makes for a really effective braking surface against the brake shoes. After a couple of applications of the brake, the rust is worn off and the lining is smoothed out so braking is back to normal.

Guzzi cast iron disks are just the same.

Not the best idea!!! Rolling Eyes Its fucking stupid and dangerous. I think Jamie was trying to be helpful, in his own way, by ensuring the bloke still had the ability to stop.

pop your wheel off and slide out the drum and look at the pad, it could be that they are worn and its the indicator(the little peice of metal that tells you to change the pads) that is squeeking.
if they are fine, clean out all the dust and crap with brake cleaner, available from halfrauds for a few quid

Make sure you don't breathe the dust, damp it down so you don't as it can do very nasty things to your lungs.
