1 little problem now guys...

about to take the variator off my vivacity 50 and in the haynes it says that wen u take the variator centre nut off, you have got to fit a new one. this is the same with the o-ring. how do i know what size they are without taking them off???

I've never changed the variator nut after removing it from my speedfight, which is basically the same deal.

If you want to change it to be on the safe side, either just take your transmission case off and measure it.

Or, alternatively you could ask on www.pug-club.co.uk, you'll probably find that it has already been answered so use the search button.

Umm... Not too sure on that one. Maybe look to see how worn it is? If it is really visibly worn, then replace it.

Or maybe just do what the Haynes manual is saying, as they obviously know a hell of a lot more than me!

The nut is a M10... and needs a 14mm socket.

Ideally you should replace it everytime you undo it as it gets messy if it comes undone.... but you dont have to as ive known them to be reused and not a problem... make sure you properly tighten it up though, use the locking tool and a torque wrench Wink

The O-ring is only on the older models when the rollers used to be greased... nowadays the rollers are nylon coated so self lubricating, therefore theres no grease in there to need the seal.
