My srad trackbike has standard brakes albeit with braided lines and HH pads. Id like to upgrade them a little bit. What would be the advantage of a bigger/better master cylinder? How can i tell what one i need? can i use one off a radial braked bike?

Yes, you can use one off another bike (try to match it with a similar braking system, i.e. if you're bike has 4-pot calipers, get one off a bike with 4-pot calipers).

From memory, a bigger M/C diameter will give you increased power, less lever travel and less feel (as it is displacing more fluid per unit of stroke) whilst requiring less finger pressure (i.e. it will require more sensitivity on the riders part), whilst a smaller diameter will give more lever travel, more feel, less initial bite and will require more finger pressure.

I have changed the MC on my SP1 to a radial MC off a Gixxer 1000 K7. That, along with fresh fluid, has made the brakes awesome (and SP1 brakes are pretty damn good as standard). I paid £75 for a virtually new MC off Fleabay.

Don't forget, you may need new hoses (or an adapter), as the fluid outlet is on the bottom of radial cylinders rather than at the end of the cylinder.
