The "upgrades" they offer you straight off are usually crap.
However, the normal game is for them to say sorry - you say you're really looking for XYZ handset, and they'll put you through to their promotions department, which have a bigger budget...
Last one I did, the guy said he couldn't do me a free handset in the one I wanted (N76), but could sell the handset for £45 and give me 3 months of half-price line rental (worth, oddly, £45) instead.
Run some numbers, make some choices, see what other people will offer, and give it a punt - you'll probably make most milage if you try and get them to match one of their own "new customer only" deals which is what mine was, effectively. They'll give you 1-3 months free crap extras (data, insurance, TV, etc), so make sure you cancel those before the end of the first month though - it's a 2-minute job on the phone, thankfully. ____________________ Previous: '00 G2 Bandit 600 Naked.
