Went to ride into work this morning, started the bike on full choke and ran for a min or 2, then switched the choke off only it didnt, the switch was in the off position but the bike was still revving as if it was on. So i figured it was frozen... only i ran it for about 5 mins and the bike started heating up and it remained the same. So its either frozen or seized? If the choke cable was to have snapped, surely if would just remain off right?

Cheers

What bike?

Some bikes, like the carbed Fireblade, have a choke 'bar' that is attached to the cable, if this is corroded, then the choke can stick open, even when the cable is pushed back.

Cheers

Its stuck open. Its happens a fair bit this time of year with various bits of the bike. Water and crud get in all sorts of places, this with a general lack of grease or oil cause bits to fail.

For starters, if its cable operated then check the cable is ok. On the carbs there will be a bar that opens the chokes on all the carbs at the same time. If you can see where it is then give it a good going over with penetrating oil and try, with the choke in the off position, opening and closing it by hand until it frees up.

Right got it sorted now, it was stuck open however now it wont start. Just ran the battery dry from trying. Im guessing the spark plugs have been flooded having been sat in petrol for 24 hours... so will i need to replace the plugs or do you think i can just leave the petrol to evaporate away? Sad

cheers

Whip your plugs out, turn off the petrol and spin the engine to clear any build up. Dry the plugs off, and preferably give them a good heat up with a blow torch or gas cooker ring. Screw them back in while still warm (carefully), and try to start with the battery charged. Chances are the plugs are just wet and maybe a bit carbonned up from running rich, but loadsa heat should solve that.
