picked this little gem up last night via Ebay, needs some work on the engine but the rest of it seems in really good order for a 24 year old bike, enough chat anyhows heres some pics of the beast !!

Thoughts and opinions gratefully recieved, was thinkong cafe racer style but to be honest its such a nice clean bike im tempted to just get it sorted stock and cruise it for a bit, the engine seems big for a 125 though !!

on phone so excuse spelling mistakes but plate looks like it from a newer bike. Don't think they made them then. That is a bike from the 80s/90s.

If it's on an 04 plate it's not a 24 year old bike... Question

Awaiting essay from Tef!

Unless of course I was abducted by aliens last night and have actually returned in the year 2028. Seems plausible.

HPI just says "Honda" and 124cc.

That is definitely not the original plate... check the VIN number and the engine numbers.

edit:

Quote:
he bike was imported into the UK in June 2004, and is on an 04 plate. As a result speedo and "mileage" is in KPH - has an indicated 12200 km.

It's not a link that's probably why, but I searched on ebay and got a link:

thanks guys, made me paranoid now, never had much luck buying vehicles, phoned DVLA an they are happy it is what it is, engine number and headstock numbers are present, I know I should have checked when the v5 was in my hand but to be honest I was a bit excited (sad for a 39 year old) so maybe this will come back and bite me in the arse , whilst chatting to the DVLA man he said the date of manufacture and date of first registration were identical which wasnt uncommon on freshly registered "Older" vehicles when the actual date of manufacture was unknown... but we shall see, until such time as this is all confirmed as ok or not im not doing anything to it.. pissed off a bit now

If you had said it's an import people wouldn't have been so suspicious Thumbs Up

I don't see why it would be Q-plated, can find out who made it and when via serial numbers. I would have thought they'd give it the right year reg but I guess they just give it the year it's registered in the UK.

Hm. If OP has phoned the DVLA and they say they're happy, then they're happy.

They used to be really strict about not issuing a plate which would make a vehicle look younger than it really is - so if it was imported in 2004 it would get an age-related plate if there was evidence for its age, or a Q if not. It absolutely wouldn't have got a 2004 plate though!

Maybe they've relaxed this rule since I last had anything to do with it...

Nice looking bike though, and apart from that question mark exactly what I'm looking for!

hi yeah, frame number is good, matches the mot's and history I have with the bike, also matches the HPI checks I did .

Started on a few of the repairs tonight, couldnt find why the right hand cylinder didnt want to play, on tracking the wiring back I found some cable joining that even Stevie wonder wouldnt have admitted to, cable wound around cables, and then all tied in place with fusewire, I kid you not.. eventually traced the fault back to a bad connection on one of the CDI units and after giving the pin a tweak and crimping the connectors in the block the right hand cylinder barked into life albeit a touch limp, but then it was probably full of fuel and crap by now..
cant find the picture on the camera card Sad
still got to find the reason for the loud noises it makes, seems top end, but then another noise comes an goes a bit lower down.. probably not helped by needing 1.5 litres of oil to get the stuff on the dipstick..
