Who's given up winter riding?

I have given up with winter riding just due to me not having any winter gear to ride in.

No way. I use my bike everyday to get to work on, and went out for a cracking ride on New Years Eve.

I've stopped the really long rides, but did a 120 mile circuit from Harrogate > Ripon > Hawes > Ingleton > Skipton > Harrogate and it was a great few hours. Weather was sunny, roads were wet but nice and quiet, no idiots flying round corners towards me on the wrong side of the road and easy to get a parking space at Hawes Cafe

Pick your days right, wrap up warm and it can be just as good as summer

I have given it up due to the fact that when I get cold into my old injuries they play up something stupid and I struggle to ride properly.

Nope - first winter on the bike, and don't want to miss out on the practice and be slow in the summer.

Also, it just doesn't seem to cold (longest journey I do is 40 miles on the motorway) and I'm yet to be in any discomfort, I think it's just down to people not having the right gear.

It's also amazing the amount you can fit in a backpack and on the back with a cargo net.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I don't ride in the winter. I don't like being cold and I can't concentrate on riding if I'm shivering. I have a perfectly good car which keeps me toasty warm and is less likely to kill me if I skid on some ice!!

Bring on the summer, I can't wait to ride my ER-5 again and quite possibly test ride a Street Triple !

I wouldnt ride if I was shivering from the cold either.

Like I said, pick your days - it was about 10 degrees C on New Years eve so no chance of ice, and wear some textiles with warm clothing underneath, winter gloves and its perfectly warm enough.

Winter is always problem time for me. As much as i want to be on my bikes, they're always in the garage/workshop/sprayshop so i have no choice but to concede to public transport. Good on the old heart and legs - walking

I voted yes cos I've been off the bike now for over a month, but thats only because it's broken. And besides that, I'd much rather ride a older, less sporty bike that I wouldn't be so bothered about getting devoured by salt. Unfortunately I can't really afford that Luxury atm.

Anyway my bike is going to be back on the road by the end of the week and I'll probably not be able to resist riding it...

I gave up winters about 8 years ago and bikes became my hobby rather than everyday transport.

I ride for enjoyment, and riding in the freezing cold and rain isnt my idea of enjoyment!

I have. I don't need to ride in winter anymore. I'll pop out in the good weather for a blast. I used to ride in winter, I have heated seats in my car, who wouldn't take the car hahahaha.

Nope is my first winter out on the bike. Love it, i see it as more as a challenge than as a hinderance.
I cant wait for the snow. Will be mental on the RS

i havent, its the only form of transport i have and in any case, its been quite a mild winter so far, ive yet to get that cold to be honest and i ride 25 miles to uni so its not like a short hop.

The only time i refuse to ride is in the snow its just too dangerous on bikes, although throwing my old puch moped around in it was a right laugh!

Not me, I love getting my bike (and myself) covered in thick corrosive filth, mostly where it can't be got at and totally destroys both the bike and it's resale value.

Good job I like the danger and discomfort so much I guess.

I've got a £400 bros so I'm not too fussed about riding through winter. I've got a blown seal on one fork due to corroded stanchions (which were fine before winter) and the brakes seriously need a clean before the seals die. The rear shock is corroding and the bike is filthy as fook.

If I had a shiny sportsbike I wouldn't be riding it at the moment
