my son had an accident in his car recently, another car shunted him from behind and the driver has accepted responsability to his insurance co. after getting a quote to repair his car the bodyshop put him in touch with an accident management company called QDOS Accident Assistance who will manage his claim fully. Today the other drivers insurance co. phoned my son offering to deal with the repairs and any injury claims directly, both he and his girlfriend suffered whiplash and direct line (the other drivers ins co.) advised them to go and get hospital reports and they would deal with it.

my question is: who should we deal with, the management company or the other drivers insurance co. as i am concerned that the management co. could be bit of a con.

i know it's not bike related but any replies would be really helpful and might help bikers in the future, thanks Question

have you not notified your own insurance company? they should provide their own accident management co/partners that deal with it and bodyshop. The third party gets the bill for it all and for your excess.

Are your sons ins co not dealing with the claim ???

Failing that does he have legal cover ? Or you with your house ins.

I bet that the bodyshop are getting a kickback for sending him to that company.
A google search shows strongly a hint at > [bd] club bodyshops commission terms <

no. the other guy was gonna settle with cash but backed out when the bill was looking too large. as it was not my sons fault the accident management co. said we did not need to contact our ins. co as they would deal with it all and direct line are willing to pay for everything direct with us as well.

Your son needs to notify his insurance company as soon as possible, it will be in the terms & conditions for his policy. Let them deal with it, that's what he's paid them for.

Your insurance should provide these services anyway, sounds like the accident management co youve been refered to is trying to poach itself some new business. Notify your insurance, and they will deal with directline for you. its what you pay your big premiums for Razz

Neither. Your son would be better going to a proper firm of specialist solicitors rather than an accident management company.

Rather than hospital reports, solicitors will obtain the NHS hospital records and he'll then be seen by private medical experts acting for his solicitors who'll report on his injuries.

Either solicitors through his insurance or one of the reputable no win no fee companies rather than the cowboy-like claims management companies.

Your son has to inform his insurance co asap and the police even if not his fault, most insurance co have a legal team to deal with this if injuries occur and they have been to hospital then they could collect the Dr. notes from there or they may want to send them to a specialist

My son was involved in a hit and run on his bike last month he did get the reg of the car and a witness police have been informed so have his insurers it is now in the hands of them

Did have the bike repaired and he paid for it as still waiting for police to come back with details

I'm in two minds over this.

I recently had an accident on the M4 and dealt direct with the other persons insurance company. We sorted everything in three weeks and a dozen phonecalls after I told their legal team to stop pissing in the wind and now I'm just waiting for the cheque.

How confident are you to deal with them is the question?
