I used to get them when I was a kid, got to about 6.00pm today and realised I couldn't see properly out of both eyes (Like when you stare at a bright light) so took 2 solpadeine (Paracetomol/Codeine/Caffeine IIRC) and went to bed for an hour, think I've missed the headache mostly (I can feel it if I cough) and I feel a bit sick.
Anyone else suffer from them? I really hope I'm not starting to get them again

Hiya,
Yeah, just over a year ago I started getting Migraines with Aura. I get the same as you to start with, like you have been blinded by a bright light but for me, that then turns into flashing zig-zag lines for about 20-30mins which basically means I can see nothing for that time but the blind spot and the zig zags! Then the headache kicks in and generally lasts for about 6 hours or so but it wipes me out for the next day also. Thankfully I havn't had one for a couple of months now as I had about 4 in a week and started taking 'Feverfew' (you can get it from any health food shop). since taking it I have only had one and nothing since. I also t.hink Bananas may be one of the causes of mine. It is usually a combination of 3 things, mine (I think) are bananas, stress and bright light/monitors (LCD monitors seem to be worse for some reason). It's a pain if I get one at work as I can't work for the rest of the day which can be a real pain.
It's strange when you talk to people about migraines as people that don't get them just think they are a bad headache but they are SOOOO much more than that! It's like someone is inside your head hitting it with a sledge hammer!
Anyway, hope you don't start to suffer with em too much. Keep an eye on what foods you eat. Bananas, Bacon and Hot Dogs are well known triggers, sometimes chocolate too but I seem to be ok with that thankfully! Apparently a green apple can be good for preventing them also? ____________________ Love is 1050cc |

Yes I have suffered migraines for 2 years now. Worst one was when i was at work once and it my my first one and I thought I was going blind everything went white and then i had a dot that was wavy to see through! lucky I worked beside the emergency doctors and went over with help. Found out it was a migraine starting then after that i was sensitive to light in the shop them strip lighting.
When i eat chocolate or drink alcohol I get dizzy and feel sick then I get the pain i also get nervous and edgy, I have to stretch for the Migraleve tabs but they always work as they clear the nausea well also (pink ones). Last year they would last for about 4 days without meds I was in agony thought I had a bloody brain tumor they where that bad. I know when they start with the dizziness now. Not nice having to reach for the pain killers but they have lessened now that I know whats causing them, chocolate. oranges are a no no and caffeine. ____________________ All the breast.

I get migraines occasionally and have done for around 30 years. Sometimes I go months without one, sometimes I get one after another for ages.
Sainsburys do an extra-strength painkiller that seems to work for me. If I take a couple when the aura appears, I usually just have a really bad headache (note to non-migraine sufferers : think of the worst headache you have ever had, multiply it by ten, then get a small child to bang a drum next to your ear for 24 hours solid. A migraine is much, much worse than that).
I've been trying to work out the main trigger for them. At the moment, I'm working on the theory that citrus fruit is a fairly major factor (started drinking fruit juice at lunch to try and be a bit more healthy, ended up with a week of migraines. 5 a day, my arse!).
I was prescribed Migraleve back in the 80's, which is bloody expensive on prescription. Turns out Boots own-brand Paracetamol & codeine are exactly the same, but a tenth of the price. ____________________ NABD Treasurer

Yeah, I have had them for about 5 years now...
used to happen once or twice a year
The other week I had 3 in the 7 days
It ALWAYS starts off as visual, I get flashing circles of dots, and the middles of those circles are blind
That lasts about 30 minutes, no pain
Then when I can see again, I get a banging horrid horrid head
And pains behind one eye, could be either eye. Varies
And then the nausea
I have to sit in a darkened room. I either take Migraleve or Nurofen Migraine Pain
If I am lucky and have taken the tablets as soon as, it can be gone within 4 or 5 hours, but then I still get the residual pain if I cough, like you mentioned. That usually stays until the next day
Crap isn't it!?
I am not as bad as my sister though. If she eats dark chocolate she is in a black bedroom in bed for a week spewing her guts up!

I get them but only if I'm exposed to strong perfume or deodourant. I get a skin rash off them too so I reckon it's some kind of allergic/defense response.
Only visuals though, starts as fuzzy round the edges and can progress to total white-out which was scary the first time it happened, especially since it happened at school and the school nurse thought I was trying to skive off class despite me becoming progressively less able to see by the minute.
When I think back on it, that was shite. Someone aged 13 with no history of migranes whatsoever goes to the school nurse complaining of 'funny' eyesight and dizziness which gets progressively worse over the course of 20-30 minutes to the point you can barely see or stand up and they tell you to go back to class. Fucking good job I didn't have meningitis. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

I'm never complaining about a headache again! Can't say I've ever had a migraine, but have you all thought about seeing a doctor? I don't want to scare anyone but a friend of mine died last month from a brain haemorrhage, she had been suffering from headaches and migraines all year.
If it's suddenly started to happen just go to the doc, have a MRI and then you know it's nothing serious, and don't be a pansy and wait to see if it stops, just go to the doc. ____________________ Alli x

Suffer from them really badly.
Starts above the eye until you go bright white and blind.
Always comes with nausea, a sense of vertigo, and the pain is unbearable.
I usually find myself smashing my fist into a wall or something just to shift the pain away from my head.
Usually always sick with them too.
End up laying in the bathroom in the dark, sweating, freezing cold, shaking, and barely having the energy to move to throw up again.
I find ADVIL MIGRAINE (i buy it in the US)
Usually manages to kill them within a couple of hours, but this is after taking around 3 capsules.
Gives me heartburn too.
I've suffered from these cuntish things for years and i'm only 19.
I used to blame it on the electrical generator at my old house that was the otherside of the fence.
Also i find yellow wallpaper makes them more frequent?!
