My girlfriend who I recently split up with is muslim, and I very much doubt any of her family or local community would actually give a fuck.

It's true people do tend to tip toe around religious and cultural issues but its bullshit, she like many young muslims raised in britain drink, smoke, and basically do allot of none muslim stuff.
Even some of older more orthodox muslims are more relaxed so things like this needn't be a problem.

All that tha people that make these objections to silly little things like this are achieving is more segregation, because then Joe-Bloggs is going to have a doctored view of muslims, and may be afraid to talk with them for fear of insulting them, or prehaps thinking they're just gunna moan.

If muslims weren't comfortable with this country then many of them wouldn't have moved here all that time ago, yes times change but as I understand it many muslims are rather happy with british life, and if not it would be no fuss for them to fly to thier ancestorial homelands. Which they don't because they like it here.

This reminds me of the "Campaign for Equal Heights" in Terry Pratchet books.
