 |

Hi all,
As a few of you may know im going for my acu licence on the 24th at brands. Ive just found out i need a oil catch tray. Ive spoken to wheel power (my local aprilia dealer) and they cannot get one in before sunday. Also, its about £200 (comes with racing fairing). I will buy this once i have the money, but for the 24th i need to make my own. I have all the fibreglassing kit etc but im not too sure what this catch tray has to do. I know it is to catch oil from the sump etc, but what does it look like and what specs do i have to work from. If anyone has any pictures i can work from it would be brilliant. Doing this is the difference between going on the 24th or not getting there.
Thanks all. You are always here to turn to. |

What bike are you racing and who has told you that you need a catch tray?
You should check the tech regulations for whatever class you're entering - 2 strokes often don't require a catch tray cos they don't dump oil and coolant all over the track when they blow up.
If you *do* need one, the regulations will give you the specifics. You used to have to have plugs in them which would be removed to let water out in a wet race but last year this was changed so they have to be sealed. If they've any sense, they've changed this back. |

Erm .. did he tell your RS125 needs a catch-tray, or just that a bike does?
As far as I know, 2 strokes don't require catch trays, what with having a lot less oil less likely to dump it's self on the track. |

Just spoke to a different guy and he just said that i DIDNT need a catch tray as it is a 2 stroke. I still need a sharks fin and other mods etc. Does anyone know any good sites to get a sharks fin of? Ive tried egay but to no avil. Wheel power can order me one in but id rather just order one myself.
