Unless you have documentary proof it's had at least a top end rebuild it'll be due one shortly, if not overdue.

Alains will know better. Thumbs Up

I did my NS125R top end for about £50 myself, was really easy and running in was ok, get round your local bike shop and check the prices on following parts:

Piston
Rings
Little end bearing
Gaskets.

Then report back but as Mick said, alains is the best man to ask.

this schedule of rebuild has been given by my friend mechanic specialized on NSR125R since 1989 :
- 7500 miles de-coke +rings+clips change
- 15000 de-coke +piston-rings+pin+bearing+clips change
- 22500 top-end change and eventually crank bearings
seals & gasket needed : base cyl seal , oil seal (valves shaft), cyl head gasket
it's necessary to dismount valves system in order to clean them , otherwise you have risk of valves malfunction
