Is it going to damage my bike if I leave the fuel tap thing turned on to main all the time? (The switch between main tank, reserve tank and off).

The off setting is there for a reason.....

If you are leaving the bike for any length of time - use it.

the off setting is there for a reason, i agree...
its to stop fuel pissing out when you take the tank off Rolling Eyes

if it leaks out when its on, then somethings wrong...
no harm in not turning it to off all the time.

If left on over a long period of time it can drip a bit of petrol into the engine, which can cause corrosion.
Not sure if it is true or not, but for how long it takes to flick it to off if it is to be left for a while.......

It cant be a major problem as some bikes dont have a tap at all.

I would turn it off, purely from the point of view that if you don't the dammed things can sieze up and when you need to get it over to reserve in a hurry while on the move.... You can't.....

Fuel to Off is part of my shut down ritual, and fuel On is part of my start up.

Unless I do it everytime I occasionally forget Embarassed Embarassed

Usually just flicking it on while still on the move will get you running again, without the need to stop.

Why bump up hill.... Just turn round and use the slope the other way Laughing

Never ever turned the fuel tap to off with any of my bikes unless I was removing the tank.

If you are leaking petrol with it left on for any period then there is a problem that needs to be fixed. It is not normal on any bike to leak with the tap left to on or reserve.

I don't turn mine off overnight, but I would if I wouldn't be riding for a week or so.

Re: switching it while moving. I wouldn't want to try that. Maybe my tap's in a funny place but I have to lean over and look down for too long to want to try it on the move. I always pull over and switch off before moving it.
