hi my first post and its a question "typical"

we just bought our son a peugeot speedfight 100 off a mate "cheap"
he was using it for a bike to commute to work but one day it got left out and got SOAKED through.......

now the bike is missfiring according to my friend ,.....
he said hes spoken to a friend and they rekon its the ECU do the speedfight have this issue or am i being lead down a wrong way path ???

any help and advice on possibly fixing this problem would be really great as my boys currently got no transport for work after crashing his old bike neos 50 that now wont start neither Smile

thnx in advance

It may be the ECU, just as likely the coil, plug, or leads.

The ECU will dry out nicely, if it is wet, in an airing cupboard or next to a hot water tank. Once you've got it sorted and reconnected spray it all with WD40 or ignition sealant.

Just give the plug and lead a good clean to see if it helps. Once again, when its all dry spray it with WD40 or ignition sealant.

Just a heads up. Speedfights use CDIs, not ECUs

'ECU' = Electronic Control Unit - generally a little computer that runs fuel injection, ignition, etc.

CDI = Capacitor Discharge Ignition, which as you can probably guess is only responsible for sparking at the right time.

I'd agree that it's the plug leads.

Odd. I suppose it could be the battery, or the regulator.

I would imagine that when the headlights are on they would act as a 'ballast' smoothing out the power going to the ignition system.

I might be talking out of my arse though.
