[b]hi i have just bought i nrg 50 that is 2004 with the digital dash and it came with a fitted leo vince exhaust, the bike does around 45-50 mph easy on the flat and about 60 mph down hill lol. the only problem im having is the exelaration.. it is poor. if i set off from sood still and full rev it revs to 9000 but drops to 7000 till i pick up a little speed then they go to about 9000-10000. how can i inprove exelaration with out redusing reliability?

if the only thing that has been done is seriously just a new exhaust then u will need to sort it pronto as it will be running fairly lean, however if the jetting has been changed to suit the zorst then adding some lighter rollers should improve accel

First of all the question of jetting is correct... did you fit the exhaust or did a dealer?? Either way was the jetting increased to suit the change of exhaust as if not it will be running lean.

It sounds like it needs some stiffer clutch springs.... chances are its just had light rollers fitted to help mask the race exhaust drop in torque.

Get a set of Malossi springs, about £10 and you get 3 strengths. Black, white and yellow... I would use the try using the black first as you dont want the clutch engaging too high on the standard cylinder and they are normally the ones we end up using.

Ah there you go then... he has just put the pipe on and not the springs so the clutch is engaging to soon and not letting the engine get into its powerband so lifting off slowly... also without the lighter rollers fitted it will be changing gear too quickly which is also adding to the problem.

Get them fitted and make sure its jetted right. Wink

Its almost definate its the rollers for goodness sake..Either wrong weight,or worn it sounds like. The bike should rev 'the same' all the way to top speed ideally. Thumbs Up

Fitted them clutch springs yet... youll be amazed how much difference letting the engine get that extra few rpms higher before it engages actually makes...

...a lot of people dont bother and just mask the problem with stupidly light rollers... but that makes the speed change too slow, and can lead to hesitiation if you shut the power off and then reapply it, most often noticed at roundabouts.

Understanding how the drive system works and what to tune makes a lot of difference, as when set up they can be quite fun.

erm... well i went and took the casing off and removed the fan like plastic piece and then i came across a problem. i cant undo this copper looking part that has the cluch sat behind it, it just spins, any sugestions??? then i tried to do the rollers and the rollers came with a part that you bolt onto the main part to stop the hole thing spinning. well it ended up snaping were one of the bolts for the casing straight off Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad . so i gave up on that to. i have done these things on a sym and a vision before and had no trouble now im not sure i ever wana touch the bike again... ow i also found a jet in the box of the exhaust... there is no chance im gona try fitting this my self lol
