I'm looking at a knackered oil drinking CB350 twin with horrendous mileage on it. I'm looking to do a total refit on it.

Trouble is I can't find a piston for it? Ebay, google, forums etc. all exhausted.

Read somewhere that you could have the cylinder rebored by about 1/2 a mm or something smaller like that and then have a non OEM piston put in?

I'll be calling my local mechanic tomorrow, but before I do wanted to ask is the above at all feasible?

I'm not familiar with the CB350 but isn't this what you're looking for?

To answer your question, if the cylinder hasn't already been bored out you should be able to get it bored out to fit an oversized piston.

It's probably cheaper to get a 2nd hand engine - these are all £150 + delivery

Yea this is what I thought no the engine hasn't already been bored out. Any idea how I should go about this? Are there stock Honda pistons of different sizes?

If it's drinking oil it must be the piston and cylinder wear right?

Had a look at those old engines already, they look in very bad condition and probably have as many miles as the bike I want to refit.

As said above, yes, you can overbore it and fit oversize pistons - as long as its not been done to within an inch of its life already.

You can get oversize pistons that go up in quarter millimeter increments.
Thumbs Up

Best thing is have a look at the bores and pistons, measure them for wear and that will give you an idea of why its drinking oil.

Off the top of my head im not sure where to buy the pistons (i have never had to buy any) but im sure they will be available somewhere.

Have you called David Silvers? Quite often they have 'new old stock' in the stores that they dont have listed on the website.
i found a pair of rims for a CB125 for £20 each that way.
Thumbs Up
