Ok, today was my first, and hopefully last/only spill of the year.
100% not my fault.

The worst part about it is I had my girlfriend on the back!

Was on a roundabout, inside lane (designed for going straight on), and an Indian driver (need I say any more) in a pug 106 was trying to 360 the roundabout in the outside lane. Completely cut me up and before I had chance to stop, Clipped the arse end of her car.

I tried to swerve, but had the roundabout to my right, And of course, her 106 to my left.

I was expecting her to take the exit I was going to take, And we would exit side by side. (she wasn't indicating so i assumed she was going straight on, like myself)


Meh, It wasn't really a crash as such, More of a bump, then I dropped the bike due to the throw/weight. Plus the OH on the back didn't really help.

Anyway, Damage, Ive got 1 scratched fairing. A broken screen, Scratched engine cover, bent gear selector and a scratched bar end/clutch lever.

Shes got a nice dent in the rear quarter of her car from my fairing!
(which didn't even crack)

She accepted full liability at the scene in front of myself, my girlfriend, AND a mate of mine who happened to be waiting to enter the Roundabout in his BMW and saw it all.


She said her mate is a sprayer and can sort it all out outside of insurance. Ive told her to get it quoted and sorted quick then because I will be reporting it within 48 hours.

So hopefully it will be simple, He will spray my bike back up. And she will pay him. Then cover the cost of a new screen, set of bar ends and gear selector.

I'm not too fussed about the engine cover, it will sand down/spray up again.
I'm gonna have a word with the sprayer though, and see if he can spray the tail piece on the bike for me. It dint get damaged in the accident, but it was already scuffed from before, and badly re-sprayed by myself.

If he can sort that out too at her expense. I don't mind sorting out the little bits and pieces on the bike as it means Ill have a full respray as such.


Oh, and Thank GOD the tank didn't touch down! It took some serious hunting to get a mint tank with no dents. Then get it sprayed up pro by an Audi Sprayer.

lonewolf. None of us are injured. I meerly dropped the bike on its side. And we both fell away from it.

We wasn't even going more than about 15mph as the bike was cutting out at anything over 3k rpm.

And look at the state of the insurance claim from september 2007 when the R6 ran up the back of me! Its STILL on going! And I still havnt been paid out for it.

Id rather have a quick fix on the bike and just let it go.


Of course the first thing I did was make sure my girlfriend was okay! She says she is. The woman who crashed into me was a Nurse too.

And yes, Its like a dual lane roundabout. Can exit side by side, Then it merges into one after about 10 meters of the exit.

Well its being dealt without outside of insurance anyway.

Ive got so many spare parts knocking around in my garage anyway. I can sort everything out for nothing. Just an hours work in the garage.

The only thing I cant do is the paint obviously.

The tail end is fucked, its been shitty from day one. But ive got a new tail piece in my garage. If she is willing to pay for the spray work doing, And the tail unit can be sprayed up too. Then I will say dont worry about the screen, bar ends, Levers etc.

But if she wants to be funny and say "I will only pay for the fairing that is scratched to be sorted out." Then I will run up a nice list of what needs replacing.

Lever = CRG £39 (each)
Bar end = Oxford - £20
Screen = Demon Tweaks - £49
Gear lever = Honda - £52 (Yes 52 fucking quid!)

In all fairness the lever is only ever so slightly chipped on the end. So Ill just dab a bit of silver paint on it. Bar ends, I wanted them changed anyway, I'm getting Harris ones to go with my Renthal Grips when I get them.
Screen was shitty anyway, I bought it off a racer, Its got holes drilled in it for a an extra bubble for the track riders.
gear lever was nut/bolted anyway. So Ill just pop another nut/bolt through it.

Must have been a scare for the OH though. I nearly had something like taht when some stupid woman was racing her family van and emergency braked onto the roundabout and was facing the roundabout. My front wheel touched the side of her door. And she went on about claiming of my insurance about being an irreposible biker! I just pulled out of tesco to the roundabout and she was coming from my left. I was doing about 10mph.

Absolute shitter that it happened after all the work you did. If that happened to me I would've ram the bike really hard into her car, if there was no one else on the bike.

Anyway, Quick update. Got the bike running great finally!

Turns out it was a faulty side stand switch. Simply bypassed it, and ive got a guaranteed redline every time!


Bike getting looked at tomorrow for paint work doing, And all I need now is a screen.

Sorry to hear about your prang. My local cross-roads type roundabout has similar problems, with a two-lane feed into a single lane exit straight ahead. Many drivers go straight ahead using the inside lane, and they know they are doing a dodgy move, because they really gun it to get ahead of me. I have never seen an accident, though..

1stly, dont take it to her 'sprayer mate' as he will just bodge up what it looks like it needs doing.

Take it to an independent garage, and find out exactly what damage is done, then give her the list and price, and see if she is willing to way it, if not, call insurance.

In this thread, you just said you wish your accidents could be minor instead of serious one, and all i did was point out something that you just admitted. You know you ride like a twat and its your choice to do that, and you know it makes you more likely to have accidents which are serious. Whether the last accident was down to you or not.

I dont think thats very controversial, so i didnt expect you to argue about that.

I agree that it is a funny thing that some people can come off at 100mph without a scratch, while others can have a comparatively low speed accident and get serious injuries.

It comes down to traffic.

Its not going fast thats the problem, its the stopping suddenly thats the problem. If there is nothing there to stop you suddenly, there are no problems.

Of course that doesnt have to be just due to traffic, as you can hit something solid and unmoving like a tree.

Two people I knew hit a tree at legal speeds. One was in a car, one was on a bike. Both made a silly mistake, but on a bike its not just an insurance claim for a new car you need to worry about.
