Long story short, bikes been down the road and now oil is leaking from the Generator cover. What do I need to do to sort it, and what parts do it need? Been researching around online and its confused the life out of me! ____________________ Bandit 600 |

Don't use a screwdriver to force it off, it could damage the mating surfaces and this might be why it's leaking in the first place. While pulling it outwards with one hand, gently tap it all the way around with a wodden mallet or similar. Not sure if you'll need to drain the oil, you can sometimes get away with leaving the oil in if you lean the bike over. if the surface are ok, just try a new gasket, probaly about £1.75. If it's for the ZXR, try Cradely Heath Kawasaki. when sticking it back together, tighten the screws up equaly. Are there any wires coming out of the cover? |
Thanks mate, I've got a Gasket on the way
So its just a case of draining the oil (gonna struggle to get it leaning enough I think), carefully getting the cover off without prying it open, checking it over and changing the gasket and possibly cover if needed ?
Nah mate no wires hanging out, the outside of the cover is scratched but I cant see any obvious holes or anything. ____________________ Bandit 600 |

Yup, that should do it. It doesn't take much damage to the surfaces to cause a problem. To be double sure you can use a thin smearing of sealant, I use Blue Hylomar. Careful getting the screws out if they havn't been removed for a while. And don't overtighten the sump plug when you replace it |
