broken arm - it is flip*NG painful at the moment, and i can only type with one arm.

Anyway, on easter sunday I was out with a mate at around 11 on our mopeds, generally riding like idiots because of the distinct lack of traffic, when my said mate, who was infront of me, thought it would be a good idea to try and stand on his seat at 35mph. well, it was funny at the time, until he fell off of course.

Riding too close to him, I had little time to brake before i hit his scooter and came off aswell, albeit a bit worse. I cant really remember the falling off part, but I remember pulling my glove off to have my arm flop out, both bones snapped.

A quick ambulance call later, and one to the mother to wheel the bikes off the road and lock them up, and we were in hospital. My mate ended up with just a bruised ankle, the wonker, and I only got out today(tuesday) because the break was so severe. I'm glad I had all my gear on, otherwise it could have been a lot worse.

I was on morphine and codine, and couldnt sleep for 36 hours. It was a right barsteward, to say the least

Ah well, 6 weeks till the casts off and I can ride again, eh?

Ah bugger, feel for ya matey.

Never nice to hear of someone coming off, even if you did do it dicking around with mates.

Very Happy

Only 6 weeks of no riding, lucky. I broke my wrist last April, wasn't fit enough to ride until the August as couldn't move wrist after cast came off.

Lesson learned then - don't ride too close to mates when they are acting like idiots.

Get well soon

Unlucky, we're all idiots at some point, see my avatar for one. Stopping distances is something I'm quite religious on, for a similar reason. Get well soon.

broke both bones, i take it you had plates put in?

I would say take a LOAD more time than 6 weeks before you try anything risky/heavy as i had plates put in my arm almost 2 years ago now and after 4 months started doing stuff as before.

Went for a check up and had snapped a plate in my arm and 4 weeks ago had a bone graft on it (which i had been putting off to be fair)

coming up to 2 years ago since i broke my arm both bones and i type with a cast on.

I know its sound like stupid and i remember that i didnt listen when i had mine at 17 and did too much too soon but they break a lot easier than you think, well mine did anyways.

They tell you what they have done so far?

they just put me under nitrous & oxygen, and pulled my arm until it snapped into place. they then put a cast on it, and said the cast would be possibly coming off in 6 weeks.

Smile I feel sooo lucky these days compared to what could have happened:)

Sorry to read (a little late I know) about your off. I really hope it's 'the one' that teaches you to be a little more sensible on the road. They say most people need one painful lesson.

I had mine some time ago and survived it, thank God.
