Ok as the title says, i've got a bruise on the front of my leg and it wont go!
I got it back last November while i was at Playzone, so it's nearly 8 months ago and although it's not a fresh bruise it is still there and still hurts!
I did get other bruises and scrapes but they all healed quite quickly.

+1 for Arnica, I used the oil version back when I was getting battered shins every Sunday. ____________________ CBR125|||GSXR400|||CBR400|||CBR400|||CB250RS|||GSXR750|||CB250RS

Comfrey oil is a traditional remedy for bruises.

My long post was fried by the server,
a chinese oil called (phonetic) tet dah chau, every chinese family has a bottle, you buy it rub it in and beat the wound and scream in pain , it won't work if you just rub it in though. You can't just rub it in I tried it myself , my bruises didn't go , my dad flew back in he did it and hurt me loads , the bruise went away after 3 treatments. I'm sure CraigT19 will be happy to indugle in some light S&M.
Or the hot egg approach, boil an egg 2 even , peel one , stick it in a flannel push hard against the bruise.
I have no idea why they work but I think that both methods destroy the clotted blood internally one via heat the other via beating force. Just hope the blood clots don't go to your brain or your heart though that happens you be dead. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Thanks for the suggestions guys! I think it's taking so long to go because it's on my shin, so maybe it's just really deep.
I'll buy some Arnica cream/ oil tomorrow, and if that doesn't work the Comfrey oil, and as a last resort the chinese torture method. S&M or not that doesn't sound like much fun
NC30, i would go to the doctors but they're useless. Everything is in my head and nothing is ever wrong with me, so i've given up going I find i get things cured much quicker if i just self medicate. How are you btw? Haven't spoken to you in ages ____________________ "One moment can change a day, one day can change a life and one life can change the world." Siddhartha Gautama |

Agreed, doctors are for the most part totally useless, and even worse around here as none of them are English so are unable to really converse in any way just type the symptoms into their computer and print off the recommended prescription. I could go in with an aching knee that just needs a couple of days rest and I gaurantee I'd end up being prescribed anti-inflammatories, painkillers, antibiotics or something.
Just figure out what's wrong with yourself and if you decide you need something that only the doctor can give you then is the time to go IMO, unless of course you are really ill, then you're probably better off going to hospital anyway as the doctor will only send you there.
A bruise for 8months is a bit odd, unless you keep hitting it, maybe you did some damage to the bone if you hit it hard, but if it's not causing a real problem the doc probably won't help.
I put a hole in my shin with the footpeg of a dirtbike a couple of years ago hurt a lot. Healed up but was a red patch for god knows how long, it's gone now, I just think shin bruises take a while to clear. |

Fuck tutton, you know shit. Re-read the post. Leggy was asking for help, we have given it. Did anyone make a diagnosis? NO.........
If your not trying to be racist, why not just say a doctor or whatever, no need to say he was coloured.
Self doctoring never hurt anyone that I know of, next time you got sumthin shit to say, go elsewhere, eh mate? Cheers muchly... ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Job done |

I know shit, oh ye as your the be all and end all of knowledge arnt you, she was asking for help, but in this kind of situation of a 8 month bruise you dont think youd advise her to go see a doc about it. I ment that him being coloured had some impact on how i respected him as a doctor, as he was much better, much more polite and the like that previous english doctors. ____________________ Past: '05 Peugeot XPS '99 Aprillia RS125 '94 FZR600R

No, actually, I'm not. Never said I was but simply that the OP was asking for help and was given it, if she doesn't think it sensible/appropriate to consult a medical professional before the vast BCF audience than that aint my look out .
So yeah, as said.. I found Savlon and stuff rich in Vit C helped me loads. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Job done |
