hi

my stepdad has just bought a 1983 bmw r80rt and it has some aftermarket stainless steel "jamma engineering" exhaust pipes on it. and they are sooo loud. a little too loud for plodding around on and long trips. iv had a good search for some original cans/pips but cant find anything. or even some kind of universal baffles we can fit to them.

can anyone reccomend anything or anyone in the midlands who could sort this please. would be a big help

you can buy baffles on ebay

depending on your cans,
post a pic, is it still twin exhausts or just the 1
if it has the old style megaphone exhaust, then a baffle from a gt750 may be the way to go, they are alot longer that the ones in the link

well this is the style of cans x2 on the bike

https://www.motorbike-search-engine.co.uk/classic_bikes/bmw_r80rt.jpg

just a pic iv found on the net if you can work it out. ill get an up close pic of the actual bike if you need.
so do you think those universal baffles would fit? and do they work? do they restrict power?

iv also noticed today it has a H pipe fitted too.

cheers for the interest and help

the work to a certain degree, they kinda just change the pitch of the exhaust,
i made one for my bike out of a filter from a industrial sump pump,
it worked sweet as, as for losing power, who can say, it completly depends on your system thats on there now,
i would say if your old man can afford to throw a few bob at the bike, then a set of supertrapp exhausts would be the way to go as they are infinitely tunable (when i say infinite i don't me infinite Very Happy)
you can add plates and increase the flow and noise or remove plates to quiet it all down.

the gt750 baffles are from a suzuki gt750 Very Happy it has the same style of exhausts except with a 2 part removable baffle,
its longer than those ones that are on ebay, and are uite good,
fuck knows where you would get them from, i just remember them being quite effective Very Happy
