Started off quite pleasant but devolved into anarchy. Lack of continuity, nothing to get into on a bike for me.

I sounds like you have tried to put too many genres into this metal song.

Each to their only but then sticking latino into the middle Confused Not for me but im sure theres a market for it Thumbs Up

It's okay but although i'm a predominantly a metal fan when you get this metal/dance crossover artists they tend to work better when the metal side is toned down and there is more emphasis on the beat side of things.

Celldweller in my opinion has got it nailed.

Your stuff sounded more fragmented but still has potential. Thumbs Up

cheers for your imput guys i must admit i didnt expect many metal orientated fans on here! but you have given alot of very useful feedback,

seeing as we had mixing issues with the metal and trance side of things being fused together as alot of the trance clashed with the riffs symbals etc so ultimatly they were turned down, but as a goal for our next batch of things we are now planning to up the synth etc,

its all a process but please do keep giving me ideas for what really gets your heart pumping so i can relay it back to the guys,

cheers fellas,
Gary

Music is good but the singing is absolute shite, I hate it when they try sound like that, it sounds like they have something in their throat and want to burp it out. Made me turn off the song.

Gimme Bodom any day. Thumbs Up

I thought "Duplicity" at the very start was just gonna kick in to "Loco" by Coal Chamber Laughing

I like the mixing style, but I think perhaps the "setting" of that sort of music style in modern times ie. Enter Shikari etc mean that your music wont be recognised as well as it should...its quite good though, I like it Thumbs Up

lol, well i suppose there is a price to experimenting with many types of music and that is it may have something for you but also may have something you dont really like, but hearing your views im starting to get a better idea of what people look for, and yea the market for this sort of music is covered by the band enter shikari...althou, to be fair thats not really my sort of music lol! i think what the band has come to terms with is that this album 'duplicity' is a very experimental stage, and seeing as the song duplicity was the last track we wrote we were so close to taping onto something much more united between the trance, metal and drum and bass,

if you have any musical ideas you wish to share chuck them in!

im in the middle of writting some solo stuff which is much more trance with heavy guitar, (a little more industrial)

if you like your music with lots of synth say it,
if you like your bass booming say it,
and if you like your metal licks accompanied by pinch harmonics for god sake say it lol

please keep giving me ideas!

thank you chaps!
G

I'll take KMFDM instead Razz just dont like the vocals. The music is great for the most part, like somebody else said, reminiscent of celldweller.

You may want to take a look at some aggrotech bands, like god module, and agonoize, for some ideas on how to work the synth in more creatively, I'm sure you'll appreciate em Razz

FFFUUUUUAAARRRRKKKKKKK NNNYYYEAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! Karma Karma Thumbs Up Thumbs Up I guess none of you have heard my screech yet! First thing i thought was enter shikari meets mortal kombat theme tune meets lacuna coil and Ill Nino with a hint of inflames/archenemy/children of bodom thrown in for good measure.

Double bass, does wonders for me. If i heard this stuff in a crowd of people say in the electric ball room, chances are within minutes, i'd have my shirt off, throwing spinning heel kicks in the middle of the circle, then walking about in a state of solace and trance, heavy bits kick in in silent descent, cue very brutal moshing and me in the centre of the circle getting people to charge at me.

It's arms flailing and legs kicking sort of affair. As i said, i'd definitely mosh to it if i'm the only dude doing it. Trancy parts i'd prolly be bopping about and moving my feet like on dance studio, then the beatdowns and double bass comes, i just wanna deck somebody.

I just like the arrangement and harmonising of the electronic music with the distorted guitars, mix of tempo and ensemble of keys in the background.

I like the clean guitar at times Thumbs Up Its the kinda stuff that will result in me injuring a person, or picking on the wrong guy. I can see synchronised metal dancing.. proper hard core dancing with this kinda stuff.

Either way, it's given me something to listen to and i kinda like to combo of trance and metal, especially if it's fast paced.

Either way,

I LIKE

Arrow Double Bass
Arrow Harmonic Solos
Arrow Beat Downs

All arranged with altering tempo. Definitely moshable.

I guess i'm gonna have a shower and listen to Ill Nino and stuff like that.

Well good thing is that they're based in the south so it's a good thing.

Tell ur mates i like em.

Just my 2p, but how about making music for yourself and not for what other people want? Maybe i'm getting the wrong end of the stick, but what i'm getting is a 'you give me a brief and i'll write you some music to go along with that' kinda thing.

Try and not 'challenge yourself' to put genres together, cause the result music will SOUND just like you slapped 2-3 genres together! Music should be ore organic - if you want a bit of synths in there, put them in, but don't try and hold a trance melody as well as a metal riff and some melodic singing. 3 things going on there that are separate entities, not complimentary ones.

Sorry, on reading that again it sounds a bit harsh, but thats what I feel. Good music makes you take a step back and go wtf?!! But if you tell people that you've made a mash up of trance, d&b and metal then all people are going to do when listening to it is go 'yup, there's the trance bit' ' yup there's the metal bit' etc. It won't surprise people. Radiohead are a cracking example of how it powerful the 'wtf' factor can be. Listen to anything from OK Computer on and there's tonnes of genre-splicing there, but done in a much more subtle way, and it's not signposted either. As I said though, that's just my 2p

I like the idea of the originality of it and mixtures of different types of music. Its different. I havnt made up my mind on it but I dont normally like roaring types of music but its not bad. Pity I cant find the add button to add you.

cheers for the response guys and i must admit you do all have a few valid points lol,

and sorry if it seems like i was asking for a brief but this post is really just for us to get a fresh response onto what we have heard alot already lol.

and the music for us is a real powerful thing, we get into it and make something we think is good (normally it isnt thou) but needs something more, this album infact is such an experimental phase for us, not only because we have found a type of music all seven of us like, but also because were bordering into something unknown, we like the technical side of music, scar symmetry to pendulum are just a few of our huge range of influences but for most of the band we really have to feel like were listening to music, and i can understand that 'wtf' factor alot of trance pieces have done that for me and we have all agreed we want to bring in more of the trance purely because it hasnt been done before, but with enough hard work we are hoping finally we will find our sound, and hope other people like it in the process too, only because in the end we want people to feel the same thing we feel for our music which is another reason i decided to write up this post lol,

but thanks for the response its helped me determine whether we are producing utter bullshit lol!

cheers for everything guys i appreciate it alot,
G
