Hi all,
my exhaust is mounted by way of a simple nut & bolt.
problem is, i keep loosing them!
no matter how tight i put the nut,
seems to loosen off within days.
without resorting to spending money, ie on threadtite.
is there any way to stop it loosening off?
ie spring washers etc?
cheers,
GAZ

Had this problem on the Trike because of it's massive vibrations, I've had some success having a hole being drilled through the bolt and banging a splitpin through it.

Nyloc nuts will be no good if it is on part of the exhaust system that gets quite hot. It'll just melt the nyloc out of it. I'm not 100% sure threadlock with withstand any heat either.

My solution would be to either use spring washers or failing that put an extra nut on top on the normal one and lock the two nuts together. That should stop it from vibrating undone. Thumbs Up

i think you're right if the thread is long enough , otherwise my solution is one punch between bolt and nut after tightening

Isn't that going to prevent you from removing the bolt if you need to?

no , if you undo the nut you will have a hard point but not for long and you are not undoing the nuts all the time . i use to make 2 at 180° even 4 at 90° when i need a really hard stoppage . when you take the nut off the thread is very little damaged and repair itself
