Depends on how it has been serviced and looked after, such engines are designed to be revved at high rpm and thus suffer lots of stress, used less vigourously should last 100K easy.
BUT...
if they are serviced right ie valves oil changes cct changes cc change , cam lobes , piston rings etc...
I saw a 954 blade the other day done 94000 miles , but it had been rebuilt once at 77K , and looked after. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. i once owned a cx400 that had done over 150000km with out a rebuild hehe, hardly a high stress engine though,
some of the old suzuki oil boilers will easily get well over 100000km with out any trouble at all and will still have loads of life in them ____________________ the humans are dead

Yeah man, it's one hard learned lesson - not only did i technically write off my bike by breaking every single panel and wrecking the exhaust, BUT this thing was totally unrelated. I remember my mate saying - you need to clean and change your air filter! I didn't heed the warning and continued riding it in winter. 1000 for bodywork and exhaust + 700 for new engine, install, valve clearance + carb sync (basically a full service with the installation. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

My '01 J2 made it to about 21k before it was cheaper to swap the engine than to repair & service it. The chain and sprockets lasted longer. |

My GSXR600 is approaching 40000. Had a cam chain and tensioner change about 2000 miles ago. Mechanic reckons that the engine was spot on. ____________________ GSXR600K4 Blue - fastest colour. No mods as yet. Happy with standard bike.

Wave is jealous that kawasaki GT550 riders are running about the city of london doing courier runs which deprive wave of jobs to do .
My mechanic when he MOT'd the bike said that it was a peachy engine 27k miles and strong as an ox, which mystified him why it was burning so much oil. Bike magazine did a test about 4 years ago when they ran a ZX6R F engine flat out on the redline for 30 mins, radiator gushing, exhaust on fire, coolant pissing everywhere. Had to extinguish it. They topped the engine up with fluids and ran it, it was just fine, so contrary to belief, ninja engines are relatively bomb-proof. It was a 37k miler bike if i remember correctly.
Kwak engines are let down by their casings so when u drop them, they break! I've got to say that i had cct changed and valves done at 26k for good measure and it was running without missing a beat until the sand got into the airbox, what with it being ram air and all caused a huge cock up in the valves etc. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1
