to anyone that knows.....

The zumo 550 is supposed to be able to speak street names as i ride but i don`t know how to set it up.Does the sound come from the actual unit or is it supposed to be hooked up to a bluetooth phone and i need an earpiece from the phone to hear it??

also...."if" the sound comes through bluetooth phone....can i bypass that option and have the sound coming straight into my scala rider instead??

cheers for any help.

You have two options in Bluetooth settings

One to connect your phone via bluetooth, this downloads your phonebook to the Zumo and allows you to make calls from it

The other is connect a headset, you hold down the button on the scala (The power one) until it flashes red and blue rapidly, then add a new headset from the Zumo.

All sound goes through the Zumo first, so you hear the Zumo directly thought your scala rider, and you hear your phone directly through the scala rider.

Fuck...still can`t do it.

When i click the "connect headset" option in the zumo it tells me to""" please set your bluetooth device to find me/discoverable mode""""
??
the scala rider doesn`t have such a mode!!!

Gonna wait till the headset`s fully charged and try it again....although i don`t see why the zumo can`t find it now...it`s plugged in on charge and the red light`s lit up.

Dude go read your manual with the scala rider and look for pairing.

You will need to set the headset up before you can search for it.
It will be something as simple as holding a button in for a bit and then searching for it with the zumo.

You need to have them both in pairing mode to have them find each other.

I`ve read both instructions twice already....but i`ll look again.

Only thing i can think of is this:
I bought the scala rider teamset (twin set) and they come pre-paired.
But so far only 1 is working (on charge) and others got a flat battery.Could that be the problem?
so when they`re "both" on...they`ll connect to the zumo??

Mate, I've just told you how to do this, hold the power button until it flashes blue and red rapidly, that is discovery mode.

can you give me some detailed info on what mount you`ve used to attach it to the bike....,and where you got it from and how you fitted it?i`m pretty sure you must`ve made some tweaks to fit it like that.

The mounts in the kit don`t have a hope in hell of going onto a sportsbike and the only way i`ve seen to do it so far is to buy a camera mount for a 6rr that bolts onto the petrol cap.

cheers.

I've got a zx6r and have managed to fit it with the original ram mount. Tis not perfect but its the only place it would go.
There certainly wasn't any room on the dash or under the screen.
I considered using the top most screen bolt but it required the bolt to be done up waaay too tight for my liking in fear of cracking the screen.
I just ducked out and took a few pics that may help.
Not the best shot cause its dark out. Thumbs Up

so have you had to drill a hole through the yoke to fit it there?..i can`t work out how else you`d manage it tbh and the pics are hard to fathom..

I`ve just ordered the fuel cap mount off ebay so i reckon that`s where mine`s gonna go.It`s got quite a long arm on so by the time everything`s bolted onto it it should be pretty good and close to where yours is (but i`ll have mine higher up and on the pivot bearing thingy so i wont have to look down as far ) Wink

What bike is it? I don't know how you could even consider mounting a GPS on the fuel cap to be honest with you...

Hell No ..wasn't drilling any holes Smile

If you look at the second bottom pic you will see the space on the tripple clamp on the left hand side which is where I put the U bold but on the right hand side. Was a snug fit and I put plastic tubing under it so not to mark it at all. Still have plenty of clearance for it too.

Also I still want to use a tank bag so I didnt want to go with a tank mount.

Also it's not as far down to look at when I need to. Would prefer it higher but it's not meant to be

It`s a 6rr mate.
I dunno if you`ve seen these already but take a look if you haven`t.It`s a decent bit of kit.
After i`ve put the zumo mount and the extension pivot on the end of it ....the unit will be nice and high up near the yoke and easily within my field of vision.
i think it`s a winner tbh.

I knew you`d ask that..... Laughing
The mount fits round the front of the rim into the bolt holes....so it doesn`t obstruct the filler cap from opening. Wink

It can hold a digi video camera too so when i`m not using the satnav i can hook one up and if anyone knocks me off by running a junction or some shit....i`ll have it all on film incase they try to deny blame.. Twisted Evil Wink
Or i can just use it for high speed police chase footage...lol

(joking...i wouldn`t bother doing any of that ^^^but the option`s there)
