Hi folks, I have just had the pleasure of being invited down to Jimmy Fireblades Wheelie School to write an article on the experience for my site, for those who are interested in learning how to clutch up in a safe controlled environment using supplied bikes I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Article is here:

A bit, although the method is the same he just spends time with you as you are practising all the elements and obviously you are not on your own bike so theres no worry about binning your pride and joy.

I really thought it was a great day and from speaking to others who have done it they all enjoyed it too, even those that go back for other days keep learning and with it not being on a public road its relatively safe to push yourself too.

cheers

Didier, I am no wheelie king I can tell you that, however it has taught me a new facet of riding on the road that I would not have learned as quickly without the tuition IMO.

If you get nothing else from it, the day is a total hoot.

cheers

A couple of thoughts:
Choose your public road wisely (industrial estate on a Sunday, for example) and you'll be perfectly safe.

You're a lot less likely to bin your own bike starting out doing wheelies than riding to the shops if you are sensible about it.

Out of interest, have you tried on your own bike since?

G, nope I have not dared so far, to be honest I have had 2 days feeling like popeye from from forearm pump and upper back - I feel like I have had a looooong time in the gym.

I do want to find a decent idustrial estate in sheffield to have a practice on though the roads are all shocking round here so I will be hard pushed to find one with roads I will be confident on.

cheers
