My bike is similar.. I asked about it and found that some models of my bike had rectifiers but all models used the same loom, but the wire was useless.

Could it be to the rectifier?

Take a look at this wiring diagram..

The indercaters just come on and don't flash whilst the flasher relay just buzzes.

Try touching that green wire to the frame and see if the indicators work after that...

First, check your battery is a) fully charged and b) not knackered

Next, that looks like a replacement indicator flasher, it may be the wrong type (two wire as opposed to 3 wire type) which may cause a problem, depending on what bulbs are fitted.

If the bulbs are blown in the indercators could that make a difference.

You said they come on but don't flash so there bulbs are fine.... Have you just replaced anything to do with the indicators on the bike or have they not worked since you got the bike? i thought they once worked but now don't and you found a loose cable.... bit confused now.

No, if the bulbs are the wrong rating with respect to the flasher, the flasher won't work.

1. Make sure the battery is charged and not knackered. You don't have to tools to do this, so use a battery out of something else that you know works absolutely fine. e.g. use jump leads off a car battery.

2. If it still does not work, then you need to make sure the load presented by the bulbs to the flasher unit is appropriate to that flasher unit. It looks in your case that somebody has replaced a 3 wire unit with a 2 wire unit, and, one assumes, did not change the bulbs to match. To be sure, you will have to find out the rating of the unit (if you are lucky, it will be printed on the case), the rating of each of the 4 indicator bulbs plus the repeater in the dash, and you will need a link to a wiring diagram that actually works.

Plus you could answer the original question.

This is the correct answer IMO. That was the indicator relay and it's been replaced with the wrong one by the looks with too few spade terminals, therefore leaving the green wire with nowhere to go. Get a replacement and it'll fix the indicators and give your green wire a home.

Wotcha.

Looks like the earth wire from the flasher unit to me.
If you notice, the other green wire in the picture is bolted to a frame earth lug.

Agreed, if it's and original wire and it's green, it's an earth on a honda. It should be connected to a componant at one end and either the frame, another green wire or the battery negative at the other end.

Unless it's a kind of light snot green, in which case it's the neutral light.
