Hi
Take off airbox, move carb out of the way. Undo the 4 bolts holding the carb rubber to the engine. This allows you to remove it and the reed block. The reeds are then held in with a few screws (which also hold the reed stops in place). Undo the screws and you can remove the reeds. Put the new ones in and check that they seal correctly. Probably a good idea to use loctite on the screws as you really do not want them to come out.
Then just put it together again
All the best
Keith

Well monday morning i go out and proceed to take my bike to bits for the first time, to try to change the reeds. Not knowing exactly what to be looking for. I found the carb (i think, it had all the right inputs!)
I took that out and carried on, looking for these vital few screws but couldn't find them. i thought they were right next to the cylinder, after the carb but i couldn't see anything like that there. there seemed to be a part of the carb where they could be hiding but i thought i'd better leave it there and took some pics to see what you all thought and where i was going wrong.
I saw 4 bolts so i took there off and wow, there was something i reconised, the fuel restrictor. that was promptly removed but can always go back in. the bike's smoother now and has much improved throttle response...and power Smile
a few questions though, where are the reeds?
what are the 3 pipes coming off the carb? and where do they need to be? seem to be breather pipes but leak fuel if they were at the wrong angle, so now propped up against something above the carb.
My bike now doesn't auto-rev with the choke when cold, what have i done wrong?
and are these reeds the same as the ones everyone else got?
Here's the pics to help you, and me!
the 3 pipes:

general view of stuff, carb at the bottom of piccy?

and the reeds i've got:

Hope somebody can help!
I'm just suprised the bike's still running. And is it me or does Honda really like using 10mm bolts?!
cheers!

Hi
The reeds on further into the engine. You can just about see the back of them in the picture "input_restrictor.jpg", through the hole in the middle of the input restrictor
All the best
