Depends he has a GSXR1000 which will most definately be a shim valve system which does not have rockers and cannot be done with feeler guages and spanners alone.
Lock nut valves are easy , shimmed valves are not so easy as you have to take the engine to bits ie move the cam chain the cam shaft the lifters , and use a micrometer, ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Not exactly true, you can CHECK the valves by removing the cam cover and using feeler gauges. Apart from removing the engine side-cover in order to turn the engine over with a spanner it's about all you have to do in fact (ok you have to remove the tank and airbox to get to the cam cover). Changing the valve shims is much more involved, requiring removal of the cams.
GSXR shim-under-bucket valves are very good at holding their tolerances though, and few engines under 20k miles should need adjustment. Many go much further.
I have a tool for taking the pain out of calculating shim sizes. I'll put it in another thread. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
