Decided to try out one of Focused Events' open pitlane days, due to the promise of unlimited tracktime. I was a bit skeptical of this promise but they were right! Only times I came off were when I was knackered and needed a drink Laughing I managed to get in well over 100 miles of track time, although my legs are absolutely killing now. Fully reccommended for anyone thinking of doing one Thumbs Up

The higher rearsets are such a massive improvement over the standard ones, I can actually get some reasonable lean now.

I should also have a video of it coming through the post soon (you can see the camera on a few pics), so watch this space

Cheers Very Happy yeah they are the Hornet cup ones - managed to get them at half price cos they're black sides but the pegs aren't coloured. Are they what you have on your hornet?

If so, I was there too on my red 916.

Barry, I've just found this picture, but I think it's a 1098 behind and not a 916, is it you?

Wish it was but no, unfortunatly I have the poor mans ducati!! Laughing

I had blue & white leathers. I think I was the only 916 (748 etc..) there that day. Saw a 999 and that 1098 in you pick. I think I recognise your bike too.

I was there with a few mates. A couple of NSR250's and a ZX7 (with no brakes!!).

Thumbs Up

Was the NSR one of the Feisty girls? I think I saw two ZX7's that day - one with a duck taped rear brake light and one with a track fairing over it - either of those? Where about's in the paddock were you? We were on the first grass verge above the proper paddock area with the wide tarmac area with a big red tent Laughing

ZX7 didn't have purple wheels did it?

Cheers Luke Thumbs Up

No, the NSR's (well, 1 was actually an RS Honda in bright Orange) the other was white & blue.

My mates ZX7 was all green and all standard road fairing, he was pretty slow to be honest, you'd have probably passed him a few times! Wink

We were over near the toilet block, on the same level as the noise testing area, just right down the other end, the bit where you ride down to the holding area.

What did you think of the open pit lane, I was quite impressed with that format, and pleased that they didn't stop the session every time someone ran on the grass too! Thumbs Up

Ah yeah I remember your mate, he wasn't that bad, that feisty girl was a lot slower!

I thought the open pit lane was fantastic, they need to start doing a lot more of them to be honest - much better value for money, and everyone seemed more chilled out because there was no rush to get the best out of a 20 minute session.

I got my video in the post today and it only has 10 minutes worth of stuff (which is slow and crap) on it, the guy didn't press record right when I went out the second time Neutral

Nice pics you've got there. I remember my only trackday at Cadwell - it was rained off at lunch, only 2 fully dry sessions done Mad

What was the cost of the open pitlane day? How many riders allowed?

I think it was £109 - £20 more than normal. Same amount of people allowed I think (60), but it always felt like there was less people on track than a normal group of 20, maybe something to do with most people being about the same ability maybe, and not bunching up

Yep, I have those on my hornet too, they are good, but bend quite easily. Thumbs Up

Get sticky tyres on it and they lean forever. Laughing

Mark,

I spoke to the guy there from Focused and he said they loose a whole group on an open pit lane day. So in reality it's 2 groups instead of 3. Good for track time he said, but not good from a business point of view! Laughing

Thumbs Up

How's the condition of the track at Cadwell? The website makes it sound like a right dangerous shit-heap.

Its good, I've been there a couple of times now and am quite impressed with it.

It's a little bumpy braking in to the hairpin just before the mountain and I managed to get the rear bouncing around there which made me run on and miss the chicane, but I kind of brought that on myself with a little too much rear brake!

Other than that its a nice track. Thumbs Up
