EXTREMELY F**KED OFF :@ !!!!

Okay, as some of you may know, I have been having trouble with my ped....
I went out on it today with a couple of friends and it ran fine all the way
However i got back to my mates n decided on taking the spark-plug out to see how it is (As suggested by a fellow forum member)
Came out easily - Was a crispy brown colour...Put it back in

The Bastad went Cock-eyed, went in at an angle and i have knackered the threads up on my cylinder head up :@ Extremely pissed off!!!

Me, 2 of my friends and my friends dad tried tirelessly to get it in dead centre - all failed

However i was at it for 30 minutes and finally got it in, It required a full 5 minutes tightening up, and still was not fully on, the cap/cover thing wud not fully go over the sparkplug, but i tried my best.
I had 4 mile to ride home with it backfiring like mad up to 20mph then it was ok, bit spluttery though

So what do i do now? Can i get it re-threaded or do i need a new cylinder head?

You've cross-threaded the plug. You can get it helicoiled no problem.

You can helicoil spark plug and it should be fine. From reading about it cos I'm needing to do it to my dead XR250 thats sitting in the garage, if you can then you're best off getting a head from a breakers or off eBay as the helicoil will always be a weak point.

If you can find a head cheaply then I'd say go for that, otherwise fit a heli coil and it should be alright.

Or you might be able to save the thread. You can get sparkplug thread chasers that you screw in a bit like a tap.

Still need to get it started off square though and i'm not sure where you'd get one.

You might also get a second hand cylinder head off ebay. Going rate seems to be £15-20. Probably cheaper than having yours helicoiled.

Your probably best getting an engineer to helicoil it for you if you want it helicoiled, you can buy a helicoil kit but helicoiling is harder than putting a spark plug in.

And the price of a helicoil kit will convince you to pay somebody who already has one to do the job for you

hi,
i have also done this,cheap alloy on the aprilia i reckon (thats my excuse)
i just got another head cover, 2nd hand off ebay, was only about £7 delivered.
couldnt be arsed with heli-coils or anything else i could make an arse of, lol
