Well, me and Suzilooki (my bike) and my man on his gs 125 made it around the coast of scotland in 2 weeks and my word it was WOW!! The scenery was spectacular and to be honest the bike was brilliant as was the fuel consumption/cost and as for speed, well i daren't go much faster than she took me!

I lived in scotland all my life til I moved to Oxoland and saw too little of my homeland while living there so this was a brill holiday, one i'd recommend to everyone. Have a good few hundred pics on my trusty manual SLR of which i will post as soon as ive had them printed.

Met up with 4 norweigan biker guys on harleys and intruders, who were an absolute ball.
We all chipped in for a b&b and got drunk then next day went to a distillery (alll suitably hungover) on Islay and drank free 'Bowmore'.
Now thats a special hair of the dog!

Norway seems a reasonable 'next destination'... (try 2 weeks to get there) Laughing

Looking forward to the pictures. I used to have family living across the border and have had many a fantastic holiday up there as a child in my Dad's touring caravan.
The roads in Scotland are fantastic, in much better condition that the roads this side of the border.

Yep it was definitly somthing to tell the grandkids about.

The bike was a trooper couldn't of done better, needs a bit of a service now though, valve clearances for one.

Everyone we told about our tour couldn't believe we were doing it on 125's but they were ideal and i highly recommend touring on them, so what if there not ideal for motorways who'd want to spend there holiday time travelling on them anyway. your much better off on the A or B roads, more fun and nicer views.

Hows your plans for your bike, if any..

Plans are coming along nicely, just need to decide on the route what I want to see on the way etc.

Am going to the Peak District next month for a couple of days and then the big one to Scotland at the beginning of October!

well if ur going around the coast you won't be missing out.

I'd recommend going t Islay it is a beautiful place. The camp site which is in port charlet is awesome. It is a new purpose built facility with amazing showers (we had few showers so they was bliss) it has a play park for the kid at heart when your drunk and a big football park.

1 tip; do not eat in the cafe. They took 15 min to bring a piece of carrotcake and the prices are too high. The site owner told us they were slow etc while showing us around but we thought what the heck then realised for ourselves he gave good advice.

I'd suggest if your at all interested in whiskey to book an appt for the Lagavulin distillery as you'll be the envy of the other tourists and the tour wil be an experience few have had over the past months.

It feels good getting to the north of scotland andfind you've run out of road to go any further nrth.

There are roads where there havn't been roads before. Try riding on top of the highest mountain around, it is unreal!! Almost feels like you shouldn't be there, but roads are made to drive on and the sights are to be seen so get your ass up those 20% slopes and soak in the views, each stop will astound you.

Look out 4 the woolly obstacles it's so remote they have no fear....

take care

Sounds like you had a great time! I live in Scotland and would one day like to go a tour on my bike - even if it's by myself. I currently have a 125, and although it's reliable, I think it would be too slow.

Yes 70mph is defly fast enough. Touring around Scotland isn't something you want to rush. Take yourself around mate you'll love it.

Cool Ok what is your top speed?

The only part of your journey you'll need speed for is the gettting to scotland part (presuming you live in England). After that I'd concern myself more with how many sights you can fit in in the time you've given yourself to tour.

I have a 06 plate Hyosung GT Comet, will do about 60, which I suppose is enough. It will go slightly faster, but even that's at about 10-11k revs.
