Hi guys. Looking to upgrade my bike in a few months. Now I will probably just upgrade to the L1 - L3 ZXR model (mine being the J1)

That means revised rear shock, better(faster) engine, 'real' ram air and a couple other goodies. I love ZXRNESS!

But... I'm certainly happy to hear suggestions, I'm quirky though, and I love the less common bikes(read not an R1), the ones with cult followings, or ones that got overshadowered by other makes or newer models so never really caught the mainstream eye.
Looking for 93 to about 99 year wise, superbikes/sportbikes but anything else goes.

If you like the ZXR but want something 'newer', then just get the 7R?

I read a ride artical stating it was the best of the bunch, My mate had one and it was fucking quick.

Its rapidly becoming a modern classic as well, or so I'm lead to believe.

Isn't the last of the ZXR's quicker than the 7R though?

Thanks for input guys, 7R, hmmm I umm and arhh about that one.

I don't like the looks 'as' much as the ZxR and the riding position is quite a bit different. My friend has the 7R and when I rode it I felt like I was ontop the bike, it felt weird.

The zxr riding position is like 'maximum agression', you're sitting IN the bike if that makes sense, perching forward slightly. I love this riding position.

My M2 (the rare race version of the L) is up for sale if you're interested?

LOADS of engine upgrades and very reliable, its a very fast and rare machine with quality parts. Thumbs Up

Old Blades are a lot more sit in than modern day tackle - if you can fit around their tanks that is.

Might not offer the character you get from an old skool Kawasaki though.

How about an up-and-over framed oil cooled GSXR?

As I said it's a thought, but generally I'd lean more towards a newer (to me) ZXR than a 7R.

In it's core it IS a better bike... Just older so needs more work to keep up.

I understand where you are coming from in your idea of a bike thats a little different, or people are unaware of its greatness as I yurn for this too.

Its quirky (in my eyes anyways), certainly not at every bikers spot yet holds its own in the looks department. Just forget about servicing, reliability and availability of parts, no wait I'm talking about the ZXR. Brick Wall Laughing

They do appear on eBay from time to time for less than £3000 if I remember.

Was that a 750cc parallel twin. I saw a couple at rex judds a while ago and it was something pretty rare. Was a typical mid 90's looking thing and oozed of trick bits.

So I've been thinking about this for a while.

And yeah it's probably definitely going to be a newer zxr 750 ORRRRR the zx9r. Wow these things arn't overly popular, overshadowed by other makes and models at the time but to those who put the effort in claim they are still an amazing bike.

Basicly... what I'm looking for! Thumbs Up

As well as my M2 being for sale Wink , I've also just finished rebuilding a ZX9 engine Very Happy (literally finished it yesterday (Monday))
Total head strip, acid clean and light skim, cleaned up the valves and lapped back in. New 'viton' valve stem seals (better material than standard ones). It's pretty much ready to fit. I'll post up some pics this evening if you're interested?

I've also done this with a previous ZXR I had. I built a big bore ZX9 motor up to 950cc with +2mm wiseco pistons. That was a monster!!! Made almost as much torque as an 05 GSXR1000, and had 130 bhp at the wheel, which is around 145ish at the crank.

£400+. Going to put it on the ZX7 owners site soon too, I dont expect it to take long to sell.

Just needs oil and fitting, which I can help out with too if the buyer isn't too far away, as I've done it before.

Thumbs Up
