Hi All
I have came across some information saying St Johns are doing a First Aid Course aimed at bikers.
Includes
* Bleeding.
* Casualty movements.
* Communication and hygiene.
* Cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
* Crash helmet removal.
* Emergencies in public.
* Head injury.
* Primary survey.
* Rescue breaths.
* Shock.
* Unconscious casualty.

Do you think it can be useful to attend being a biker? |

Its a stripped down version of the First Aid at Work course.
If your work are willing to pay for you to do the full 4 day course, I'd go for that. It's valid for 3 years.
Though it doesn't cover helmet removal. ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

The closest one they have to london is Havant ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
Skudd:- Perhaps she just thinks you are a window licker and is being nice just in case she becomes another Jill Dando.
WANTED:- Fujinon (Fuji) M42 (Screw on) lenses, let me know if you have anything. |

Just got mine, work paid for it.
Seen helmet removal before, it's tricky, but a necessary evil if you want to check their breathing and maintain their airway. ____________________ My Flickr |

there well ran courses. and know a few people that have both taught and taken part, and they speak highly of it, so if you like the sound then go for it
[rant]
But it really gripes me that they teach helmet removal! If anyone removes my helmet then i expect them to be fully prepared and have the equipment to provide full immobilisation and a full CNS examination, and be able to appreciate and recognise the MOIs involved and the complex A and P.
At the end of the day most injurys that can cause me to stop breathing while riding a bike is going to be catastrophic and a firstaider or "BikeAider" is going to be ineffective.
[/rant]
but as i say its a good course and i would recommend anyone who feels confident to learn first aid to do so |
