KX 250 Oil Leak

Well after a bit of work finally got it firing up. Now an oil leak just what i need after a complete rebuild. Found where its leaking from, the output shaft. But I dont no whether it has a seal already or none at all . The seals are on there way but I jus wondered if I should remove this bit of rubber or is it part of the sealing with the seal. And do i have to split the cases again cause I really aint looking forward to doing that again just for a seal. Ive added a pic.

Should you have an O-ring in there?

Thought so but how about fitting one and what about that other bit of rubber in there already

The seal face will be behind where the splines end, when the new ones come you will be able to see if they are just pushed in & your not needing to split the engine to do it.

I have used a couple of self tapping screws before now to get the output shaft seals out(depending on the bike and fitment). By screwing them in to the runner at 12 & 6 o'clock positions and pulling with pliers.
