Have you tried insuring your car with either the missus as the main driver and you as a named driver, or adding her as a named driver. It's what I did when I was younger and it reduced my premium. ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen... |

Becoming 21 or 23 (don't you mean 25) won't make bugger all difference, each year it brings it down a tiny bit, along with each years no claims, I certainly didn't notice any drops, only rises when I hit 21. 25 i'll find out if it helps come renewal time.
If you can afford to replace the car try getting quotes on something bigger, small and cheap hatches are favoured by new, incompetant or irregular drivers so are often more expensive to insure than larger cars. Check your policy mileage too, it makes a massive difference, underestimate rather than overestimate it, remember if you exceed your mileage, you are still insured by law, they might just be a bit awkward come claim time, though I imagine more with fully comp claims.
And as for having a ZX12-R at 20, well to expect a reasonable insurance premium on that you have to be fairly insane. |

It is a absolte fucking joke mate, I cn get an R6 insured for £600, yet a 1.1 corsa costs £2K. Check in Miscs thread, my qoting for a MR2 tonight was >4K, fcking robbing twats. How the fck am I sposed to get a car an earn NCB at that rate? NS was only £220ish to insure, al this is TPO as well. Least you can get insurance on the OH's car, she can drive.
Argh, does my fucing head in. Mght try quoting for a bigger car though, 3Litre V6......... Not that I hold any hope out, what a set of absolute robbing fucking twats. I'm off to go cry like a stressed little emo girl.
Another thing, I can't hire cars either cos im not old enough for some and not had my license over 12 months for others. Like that Whiz-go shitscheme, they reqire you to be 21 or over and held your license for 12+ months, I'm neither atm. Trust me to fall into the 'gap'. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Its always been the same for car insurance, when i first started driving a crappy 1990 vauxhall belmont 1.6 i paid 1200 pounds a year for the insurance! The car cost 600 pound
Other than growing a fanny and tits all you can do is look for the lowest group car and insure it for a few years just to get around.
The reason its so expensive is simply because you pose the most risk, when i passed my test i was driving like a twat most of the time
Either way your gonna get raped on insurance until about 25 ish. And whatever you do dont crash!! ____________________ Cbr1100xx blackbird gone, mk4 golf gt tdi chav now

Hi
In direct terms they probably don't make much. But they can then try and sell you other insurance, and also get the insurance premium in advance to invest (and if it is paid by direct debit then they still get it in advance from the credit company and probably get a fee as well).
The way they really do make money is from people renewing at full price, often far higher than they would quote for a new policy.
All the best
